Annie Mae Dorman

ANNIE’S LIFE AND LEGACY Annie Mae Copes Dorman, affectionately known as Miss Annie or Miss Annie Mae, was born on April 30, 1944 to the late Alma Mamie Good Bread Copes and Randolph V. Copes, Sr. in Hastings, FL. She entered into eternal rest on June 11, 2024 at the age of eighty (80) at Tidal Health in Salisbury, MD. Annie received her formal education in the public schools of Wicomico County and attended the former Salisbury High School in Salisbury, MD, graduating in the class of 1963. She was employed at Johnny’s and Sammy’s, Green Hill Yacht and Country Club, Buddy Boys Poultry, Swift and Company in Salisbury, MD and the United States Department of Agriculture, for 17 1/2 years until her health failed. Annie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very early age. In her Christian life, she was a member of St. James A.U.M.P. Church, now known as St. James Free Methodist Church on Head of the Creek Road in Quantico, MD. There she played the piano for the Junior Jublilees and the Zionnettes under the leadership of the late Columbus “Beady” Dorman. Later she joined St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church on Delaware Avenue in Salisbury, MD where she was a member for over fifty (50) years. She was actively involved in several organizations. Annie met and married Amos Jack “Okie” Dorman of Head of the Creek in Quantico, MD. From this union, they became the parents of two children. She loved her family and was a people person who was very kind-hearted. Everyone who met Annie fell in love with her because of her sweet personality. She was a resilient woman, strong in faith, very encouraging even when she was going through, but God sustained her in all of her sicknesses. She trusted in her God. Annie was a Psalms 1:3 woman: Annie was a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brought forth much fruit in her season. Annie’s favorite hobbies were putting together puzzles, including the 3000 piece Ravens burger, the big 5, cross-stitch, word search puzzles, and traveling. She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter Adrian Dorman, Salisbury, MD; one grandson, David E. Dorman, Jr. (Amber) of Goldsboro, NC; four bonus children, Donzelle Dorman Brown (Charles) and Allen Dorman, both of Salisbury, MD, Aapri Dorman-Oladoro (Bolaji) of Cockeysville, MD and Frankie Marshall of Laurel, MD; two sisters, Alma Thomas and Katherine Copes, both of Salisbury, MD; three brothers, Robert Lee Copes of Baltimore MD, Daniel Copes, Sr. of Salisbury, Maryland and Robert James Copes (Deborah) of New Castle, DE as well as a host of nephews, nieces and great grand children. Annie was preceded in death by: her husband, Amos Dorman; her son, David Dorman, Sr.; her sister, Mary Mitchell/Cropper; three brothers, Randolph Copes, Sr., Kelvin Copes and Nathaniel Copes, Sr. and one nephew, Raymond Copes.
