ANGELA’S JOURNEY Angela Marie-Renee Bratten, also known as Angie, was born on October 14, 1971 in Salisbury, Maryland. She was the daughter of Christine Anita Richardson Blake and the late Frankie Bratten. Angela peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 1:33 a.m. at Coastal Hospice by the Lake in Salisbury, Maryland at the age of forty-seven (47). Angela graduated from Delmar Junior Senior High School on June 8, 1990. Angela’s last employment was at Dove Pointe located in Salisbury, Maryland. It was an occupation in which she found great enjoyment by helping those in need. Angela was the proud mother of two children, a son, William Hitch and a daughter, Christoria Wise, both of Salisbury, Maryland. She was also a proud grandmother of one granddaughter, Aalyiah Sheppard. Angela was a beautiful person inside and out. To know Angie was to know a different kind of person. Angela treated no two people the same. With her you had your own original version as herself. Angie was the type of person who would give you her last. But she was also the type to speak her mind whether it was right or wrong. One thing about Angie that everybody knew was that she loved her family. Angie treated her brother William like he was her son, always reminding him who was the oldest. Her aunt Bop called Angie her favorite niece and she let it be known to all. And Angie would co-sign by saying, “I’m the favorite niece.” Her favorite saying when she was upset was, “I’m going to put you out!!” Angela was strong-willed and loved the Lord. She fought a battle like no other. Angie loved to talk on the phone. You could take a nap and wake up and she still would be talking, saying, “I'm not for that mess.” One thing that would get her off the phone quick, though, was a thunder storm. Angie loved to watch cartoons with her granddaughter and order take out. When her children would get on her nerves she would call Aunt Bop and say, “You’d better come and get them or I'm sending them to your house.” She could make you laugh at the craziest of things and come up with sayings never before heard. She was a loving mother, sister, daughter, niece and aunt. She was an all around gem. She would ask her mom, “Where is my daddy (Anderson Blake) and her mom would say, “Here he is gosh—here, your daughter wants you.” He would answer the phone, What’s up daughter?” There are so many great memories through the life she lived in full. She lived it to the very end with her fiancée Eric, who was there in the good and in trying times. Eric would call and say, “Bop, I just don’t understand.” Bop would say, “Well man, that’s just Angie, and you probably never will.” She loved to eat and always wanted Rosalie Cordell to make dumpling and chicken salad, and she knew she would get it. Angie always, not sometimes, but always got her way. Just ask her sister-in-law, Telishia Dennard, and she loved BBQ’s. Angela is survived by: her mother, Christine Blake and father, Anderson Blake; her brother, William Richardson; her daughter, Christoria Wise and son, William Hitch; fiancé Eric West; granddaughter Aalyiah Sheppard; brothers, Elder Thomas (Lesley) of North Carolina, Tony Blake, Andy Blake; aunts, Lisa (Bop) Cordell and Rosalie Cordell of PA, Peggy Harmon, Brenda Harmon, Karen Schoolfield, Cordia Beckett, Annette Hayward and Deborah Tull; uncles, Roger (Dippy), Donny, Ricky, Terry Harmon and Lamont Downing and a host nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Preceding her in death were her grandmother, Gladys Harmon, grandfather James Copes and great grandparents, Dorothy and Oscar Ward.
