Alton Leroy Deal

Obituary Alton Leroy Deal, Sr. of Fruitland departed this life on April 9, 2019 peacefully at his residence. Mr. Deal was born on April 13, 1932 in Salisbury, MD to the late Charlie and Emma Morris Deal. He was educated in Wicomico County Public Schools. Mr. Deal was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army in 1961. He retired from The Wicomico County Public Schools Facilities Department in 1996. He also served as a Crossing Guard from 1999-2012 providing Wicomico County’s Children a safe passage to and from school. Mr. Deal was a member of The Weeping Mary Full Gospel Baptist Church in Salisbury, MD where he served on the Board of Trustees in which he earned Emeritus Status and the Men’s Choir. Brother Deal attended church regularly until his health would not always allow him to. He always entered the sanctuary with excitement and was not ashamed of praising the Lord! Mr. Deal who was affectionately called Pop-Pop or Pop Deal knew no strangers and was loved by everyone who met him. He enjoyed attending church services, reading the Holy Bible, spending time with his family, meeting new people and watching wrestling and football. Pop Deal believed in treating others the way he would want to be treated. There was rarely a conversation where God was not mentioned. In addition to his parents, Alton was preceded in death by one son Roger L. Deal and one Great Grandson Alton L. Deal IV. He is survived by his beloved wife Ruth Towns Deal, one son Alton ‘Roy’ Deal Jr. of Fruitland, four daughters Phyllis Simms (Bike), Stephanie Collins (Tom), Alison Deal all of Salisbury, and Carol Deal of Fruitland. Pop-Pop will be sorely missed by eight grandchildren: Courtney McAllister, Christina Stewart, Aundrea Gould, Alton L. Deal III (Amber), Morgan Deal, Jennifer Deal, Kimberly Collins and Justin Roman. Six great grandchildren: SaMaiya Dale, Darren Dale, Kamree Batson, Aryane Deal, Amari Deal and Charm Palmer. Five brothers: Charles, Ralph, James, Sidney and Clyde Deal, and one sister Doris Saunders and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his church family.
