Wiliam Edward "Dicky" Miller Jr.

May 15, 1936 - March 26, 2022

A TIME TO BE BORN: William E. “Dicky” Miller, Jr., son of the late William E. Miller and Sarah Hester Morris Miller, was born in Lewes, Delaware, on May 15, 1936. He departed this life on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at home, surrounded by his wife, Helen and son, Micheal, at the age of 85. A TIME TO GROW: Dicky, as he was so favorably called, received his early education at Nassau #198C School in Belltown, Delaware. He then attended William C. Jason Comprehensive High School, where he graduated in 1954. Dicky also served in the U.S. Army for 4 years. In 1958, Dickey returned to Delaware to finish his Army time with the Lewes Reserve Center, serving for six more years. After leaving the Army he worked various jobs including the with the Town of Lewes, A.P. Croll Construction Company and Thom Best & Sons, for 25 years, both located in the town of Lewes, Delaware. In his early years, Dicky attended Israel United Methodist Church, in Lewes, Delaware, along with his family. A TIME TO LOVE: Dicky met the love of his life, Helen Harmon, in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, in 1958, while home on leave from the Army. They courted for two years. On July 1, 1960, Dicky married Helen Harmon. From that union three children were born, Stephanie Elaine (deceased), William E. III (deceased) and Micheal Miller, Sr. Dicky and Helen shared 61 years of life filled with happy times and traveling. Dicky loved to travel to see his family in Arizona and Illinois. Dicky was a kind and good-hearted person. Family was very important to him. He worked hard to keep his family together and to stay together. He loved to cook, could never sit still, and he was always outside messing, cutting grass, or sharping blades. He loved to work and help others. A TIME FOR FAREWELL: After a short battle with Leukemia, God called his name. Dicky leaves to cherish his fond memory, his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Helen; one son, Micheal Miller, Sr. of Lewes, DE; one sister, Mary Pascal of Arizona; adopted daughter, Giffin Mifflin of Lewes, DE; 10 grandchildren, Cierra, Micheal II, Jordyn Miller, Carlos, Marcus, Chris, Aileen, Jenny, Nancy and Sharon Pratt; 16 great grandchildren, 31 nephews and 30 nieces; four brothers-in law, Theodore Harmon (Juanita), Thomas Harmon, William “Billy” Harmon (Joetta) and Calvin Harmon; four sisters-in-law, Gloria Holland, Shirley Harrison, Patricia Harmon Edwards (Theodore) and Vivian Harmon; and a host of cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, Dicky was preceded in death by his children, Stephanie Elaine Miller-Moulton and William E. “Nick” Miller III; four sisters, Sylvia Henry (John), Dorothy Burton (Courtland), Edith Maull (Richard) and Marjorie Ricks (Wes).
