Shirley Willie Mae Harris

January 21, 1948 - February 4, 2022

Shirley’s Life and Legacy Shirley Willie Mae Harris, a resident of Delmar, Delaware, departed this life at the age of seventy-four (74) on Friday, February 4, 2022 at Tidal Health Hospital in Seaford, Delaware. She was the daughter of the late Willie A. Sawyer and Bernice H. Winder. She was educated at Owen Corner Elementary School, Paul Lawrence Dunbar Middle School and William C. Jason High School, graduating with the Class of 1966. After high school, Shirley was employed at the Delmar Pant factory for ten (10) years. Upon leaving the pant factory, she gained employment at the Wicomico County Library where she worked and retired after thirty-eight (38) years of service. Shirley loved to read, but she especially loved to cook. She would fill the table from corner to corner with the favorites of any one who came though her door. Everyone was welcome and they could eat to their heart’s content. Loving memories will be cherished by: one daughter, Angela D. Benson (John) of Harrington, Delaware; two sisters, Connie Ayres (Charles) of Delmar, Delaware and Fay White of Salisbury, Maryland; one niece; three nephews and several cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Minnie Sawyer and a brother-in-law, Donald White. SUBMITTED WITH LOVE, THE FAMILY
