Rayfield Jones

March 2, 1943 - December 18, 2021

Obituary Rayfield Jones, affectionately known to many as “Sugar Ray,” transitioned from this life peacefully on Saturday, December 18, 2021. He was born on March 2, 1943 and raised in Scotland Neck, North Carolina.   He moved in his earlier years and worked at Dorr-Oliver, Inc. for many years in Stamford, Connecticut, where he completed his education. He later returned to Salisbury, Maryland and worked several construction jobs while living there.  Rayfield leaves to cherish precious memories: one daughter, Dana Rae Jones (Fig); two brothers, Jesse Fields and Earnest Jones; one sister, Hester Jones; four grandchildren, Allan Purnell, Jr. (Little Al),  Sheree Garner (Muff), Tara Smith (Tpot) and Khadijah Jones (Worm); five great-grandchildren, Jada Patton, Shakur Drew (Tank), Alorah Patton (Cissy), Gavin Purnell and Ava Purnell;  a special lifetime friend, Lawrence Dale (Big O) , who was always caring and loved Rayfield as his own brother; a special granddaughter whom he loved like his own, Kyana Alvira and a host of family, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other family. He was preceded in death by: his mother, Gertrude Fields and father, Frank Fields; his sister, Emma Fields; brothers, Robert Earl Fields (Scooter), James Fields (Tom) and Joe Jones; his daughter, Trudy Conway and nephew Samuel Fields.
