Paul George Hopkins, Sr. was born in Bridgeville, DE on May 15, 1938 to parents Daniel and Fannie Hopkins. Paul started his early education at Phyllis Wheatley Elementary School and later at William Jason High School in Georgetown, DE. Paul soon after married Carolyn Green and started his family. Paul joined the United States Army and worked for the Air Force Base in Dover, Delaware. Paul then relocated to Boston, Massachusetts where he furthered his education at Boston State College while pursuing his education he worked as a Building Superintendent and following embarked in a long time career in masonry. Paul’s masonry skills led him to be a sought after mason who worked on large scale projects city-wide, most notably the city’s subway system and infrastructure. Paul was a loving and compassionate man of strong values. He always was willing to lend a hand. His greatest joy was entertaining, spending time with family, traveling, cooking and no occasion was complete without his home made ice cream and fish cakes. Paul often spoke of his happiness in seeing his children at peace with each other. Paul was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Hopkins, both parents, Daniel and Fannie Hopkins; two sisters Rosa Lee Tucker (Arthur); Shirley Newsome (John); brother Daniel Hopkins Jr; (Ethel). He leaves to cherish his memories to his children, Paul Hopkins, Jr; Brendall Hopkins; Judy Hopkins-Ross (Anthony); Kim Hopkins; Robin Hopkins-Matos (Michael); Janet Green; Terry Hopkins; Rodney Hopkins; Tammy Holland (Edward); April Hopkins; Darlene Ashley (Tyrone) and Angela O’Neil; 43 grandchildren and 93 great grandchildren; Emery Burbage, commonly known as son; nieces and nephews; special companion Rose Jumper and the late Phyllis O'Neil; and a host of other family and friends too numerous to name.
