OBITUARY Michael Wheatley, Jr. better known as “Chipper” was born in Cambridge, MD and passed away on May 1, 2019. Michael was born to Dr. Cynthia Porter and Mr. Michael Wheatley, Sr. on September 19, 1973. He is a product of Dorchester County public schools and graduated from Cambridge South Dorchester High School. He was a member of the class of 1992. At an early age, he was introduced to the Lord by the teachings of his late grandmother, Rev. Hattie Stanley. He attended Center Street Church of God at a very young age where he enjoyed playing the drums. Chipper had a special bond with his daughter, Mykeria, and was elated to hear that he was to become a grandfather which captured his heart. Affectionately known as “Chipper”, he was well known for his infectious smile, love for elderly people, laughter, and love for others; he was so friendly. Chipper was employed at Amick Farms. He loved to eat, especially fried chicken, sing, laugh, encourage and motivate others to laugh, and live their best life. There was nothing like attending one of his Mom & Dad’s Super Bowl gatherings, knowing there would be plenty, plenty of home-cooked food. Chipper was the highlight of the gathering. He was also known for his pleasantness to anyone he encountered. Chipper leaves to cherish his memories his wife - Melinda Wheatley; mother – Dr. Cynthia Porter (Elder Rod); father – Michael Wheatley (Barbara); father-in-law – Ellsworth Jenkins; daughter – Mykeria Wheatley; step-daughter – Tykeria Dotson; grandson – Tavon Lyons, Jr; step-grandson – Trenton Dotson; grandparents – Luther Cornish (Doris); 1 brother – Sean Wheatley; 3 sisters-in-law – Tynette Dennis, Wynette Dennis, Lashell Dennis; 5 aunts – Rev. Rosalyn Watts, JoAnn Slacum, Vanessa Meekins, Elder Portia Wheatley, Shirley Stanley; 5 uncles – Rev. Keith Cornish, -(Brenda) Michael Cornish, Melvin Stanley (Evenlyn), Dennis Stanley, Lorenzo Stanley; step-brothers – Aci Purnell, Roderick Nicholson; 3 Step-sisters – Sherena Blackwell, Rosalyn Roberts, Meisha Strickland; Godmother – Constance Elliott (Freddie); God-sisters – Otika Gibbs, Nakeyia Rhodes, Janeen Camper, Lavonia Fisher; God-brother – Randy Meekins, and a hosts of cousins, friends who loved him so much and will dearly miss “Chipper” very much.. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Elder Robert Stanton and an aunt – Ms. Charlene Green, & grand parents Rev. Hattie & Deacon James Stanley.
