Martha Glenda Toussaint

August 22, 1948 - April 27, 2022

Martha’s Life Story “Glenda” Martha Glenda Toussaint departed her life at the age of seventy-three (73). On April 27, 2022 at 11:46 am, she took her last breath at Tidal Health Hospital in Salisbury, Maryland with her family standing beside her. Born on August 22, 1948, Martha was the daughter of the late Carey Leroy Spence, Sr. and Carrie Addel Hines. She was a resident of Chester, Maryland for twenty-one (21) years. Glenda, as we all knew her, was educated in public schools, where she went on to pursue her career of cooking. It was something that she loved to do, and that she did very well. She would do cleaning jobs from time to time and in her later years, she was employed at Johnson’s Cleaners, from where she eventually retired. Glenda was a Lay Servant and a member of the Gospel Echo’s at Ezion United Methodist Church. There she enjoyed making dashikis for the Junior Echo’s Choir, along side her late mother, Carrie Addel Hines. Those ladies were something to be reckoned with when it came to a needle and thread. Precious memories of Glenda’s life will be cherished by: her long time companion of forty-three (43)years, Andy Johnson; three beautiful daughters whom she loved for life, Tania King and Evette King-Palmer, both of Salisbury, Maryland and Alizia King of Baltimore, Maryland; a son-in-law, Elmer Palmer, Jr. whom everyone knew she loved as her own, as she would light up when he walked in the room; 5 grandchildren, Myeshia Gross, John R. Gross IV, aka J.J., Chanale Gross, Albert Cassal Jones and Malik Jones; 9 great grandchildren; her cousin and best friend, Peggy Hines, in whom she confided and shared everything since their relationship was that of sisters and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Sylvester Hines, Carey Spence, Jr., Paul Spence and Wayne Spence. SUBMITTED WITH LOVE ~ THE FAMILY
