James Douglas Dobson

Obituary James Douglas Dobson, a resident of Hurlock, Maryland, departed this life on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at his home. Affectionately known as Doug, James was born in Ridgely, Maryland on June 8, 1923 to the late Eary Minnie Dobson and Jessie Black. Surrounded by his loving wife and family during his transition from earth to glory, James was ninety-eight (98) years of age. A member of Greater Full Gospel Church of God, he repented of his sins in Jesus’ name and was baptized on April 23, 2021. He received his education in Caroline County public schools and spent his adult life working as a farmer. Doug loved the outdoors, gardening and hunting. He met and married Lillie Mae Belle on August 25, 1951 and had a total of eleven (11) children. Doug leaves to mourn: his wife of seventy (70) years, Lillie Mae Dobson; six sons, James Dobson (Vanessa), Johnny Lee Dobson and Charles Irvin Dobson, all of Hurlock, Maryland, Douglas Dobson, Sr. (Tamara) of Federalsburg, Maryland, Daniel Dobson (Sharon) of Seaford, Delaware and Ottis Dobson of Hurlock, Maryland; two daughters, Teresa Conway (James) of Hurlock, Maryland and Lillian Dobson of Seaford, Delaware; one “adopted” son, Jerome Cephas (Rose) of Hurlock, Maryland; daughters-in-law, Colleen Dobson and Deborah Dobson; one sister-in-law, Clara Cason of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; eleven (11) grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Doug was preceded in death by three sons, George Henry Dobson, Dennis Day Dobson and David Donell Dobson as well as two brothers and one sister, Oak Dobson, Jesse Dobson and Lillian Smith.
