Howard Snead Jr.

February 24, 1931 - February 5, 2022

Howard William Snead, Jr., passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, February 05, 2022, at Bay Health Hospital, Sussex Campus, in Milford, Delaware, after a gradual decline in health. Howard was born Tuesday, February 24, 1931, in Northampton County, Virginia, to the late Howard William Snead, Sr., and Cordia Baines. From March 1952 to February 1954, Howard proudly served our country in the United States Army. Howard was a truck driver most of his adult life. Howard enjoyed driving to the West Side Diner for lunch. He loved to fish with his wife, Bettie, brother, James, as well as his nephews, Cletis and Curt. Howard loved telling old stories, picking greens, watching Nascar races and shooting-the-breeze with his son-in-law, Dortan. He was an active member of the Denton Church of Free Seventh-Day Adventist in Denton, Maryland, under the leadership of Pastor Terrence Nichols. There were special people in Howard’s life, which included Ms. Karen, Mr. Ceasal, Mr. Tommy, Jane and Fred Sobtkin. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Howard, Sr. and Cordia Snead, wife; Bettie Snead, one brother; James Snead and son; Anthony “Tony” Snead. Howard leaves to mourn his passing, five daughters: Linda Walters of Exmore VA, Linda Hatchett (Anthony) of Lincoln, DE, Celina Snead- Daggins (Jesse) of Princess Anne, MD, Melinda Wright (Carl) of Milton, DE and Melissa Briddell (Dortan) of Magnolia, DE, 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Colbourne; a favorite nephew, Dwayne Powell; four stepchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
