FLOYD’S LIFE Floyd Lee Sykes, Jr. a resident of Fruitland, Maryland formerly from Salisbury, Maryland where he was born and raised, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022, at his home in Fruitland, Maryland at 7:10 am. Born to Kurley Ann Jones and Floyd Lee Sykes, Sr. on Saturday, April 21, 1979, Floyd was blessed to embrace the forty-two (42) years of life God gave him. Roy, as he was affectionately known, worked for Coca Cola Bottling Company as a forklift operator and pallet loader until the day of his passing. Prior to Coca Cola, he worked for Chesapeake Waste as a trash thrower and Perdue Farms as a Cryovac worker. Floyd loved his family and friends, but family more than anything else. Every day, before and after work, he would stop by his mom’s just to check on her and spend time with her letting her know daily how much he loved her. He also loved spending time with his cousins, nephew and son every chance he got. In his spare time, Floyd loved going fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards with his family and just having a good time. He enjoyed coaching, teaching his younger family members about life and being the boss of everyone. He was top dog, and nobody could tell him anything different. The life memories of Floyd will be cherished by: his mother, Kurley Ann Jones and his father Floyd Lee Sykes, Sr., both of Salisbury, MD; his children, Rashawn Sykes of Salisbury, MD, Chakyra Sykes of Seaford, DE, De’Selena Skykes of Salisbury, MD, Gabriella Sykes of Fruitland, MD, Sky Lightfoot of Salisbury, MD, Jaden Spence of Salisbury, MD and Jiara Thomas of Baltimore, MD; his siblings, Jermaine Jones of Laurel, MD, Marquito (Tiquan) Purnell of Salisbury, MD, Latosha (Marcus) Cannon of Salisbury, MD, Cierra (Mason) Burrell of Salisbury, Maryland and Randy Nelson and Ebony Jones, both of Salisbury, MD; his grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Wright of Salisbury, MD and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his uncles, Pap Jack and Clifton Wright and cousin Lamar Sheppard. To all our family and friends, please know that Floyd loved all of you dearly.
