Ethel Mae Fountain
April 1, 1940 - December 11, 2021
On April 1, 1940, Ethel M. Fountain graced the lives of the late William M. and Ivory F. Fountain, in Seaford, Delaware. Ethel was educated in a segregated Seaford school system. She attended Frederick Douglass School and was a 1958 graduate of the William C. Jason Comprehensive High School. She never married or had children, so she claimed all of her nieces and nephews as her children. She also treated her beloved “doggies” like babies. Ethel worked at The Stockley Center for 33 years, as an attendant to the chronically ill. She had a passion for helping those dealing with illness and went so far as to open her home up to children with disabilities. Ethel was a member of Macedonia A.M.E. Church in Seaford, Delaware. She was known for her creative ideas for fundraising for the church. There was no one more dedicated and focused on her goals than Ethel M. Fountain. She met every goal she set out to achieve. Ethel enjoyed spending time with her church family and would bend over backwards to help in any way she could to assist in the betterment of Macedonia A.M.E. Church and kingdom building. Ethel’s hobbies were collecting antique furniture and furnished her home with the gems she happened to find. She was also a collector of black Santa Clauses and angels. Ethel enjoyed her time with her family and her co-workers. She would have barbecues and parties at her home or at local venues in the area where she wanted everyone to get plenty to eat and have a good time. On Saturday, December 11, 2021, Ethel left her earthly tabernacle for a building made from God, surrounded by family. She joined those who had gone on before her which included her parents; siblings, William E. Fountain, Charles W. Fountain, Hazel Webb-Tokley and Rosena Cannon. Ethel leaves to rejoice in her homegoing, one sister, Betty J. Frazier of Philadelphia, PA; one sister-in-law, Beatrice Fountain-Bounds of Princess Anne, MD; 12 nieces and nephews, Charles J. Fountain (Kathleen), Ivy Webb, Louis Fountain, Ronald Fountain, Teri Webb, Victoria Fountain, whom she raised as her daughter, Christopher H. Webb (Charlene), Linda Webb, Donald Frazier, Stephon Fountain (Leslie), Chanca Russ and Kasson; two godchildren, Bobby Bowden and Amber Cannon; beloved friends and caregivers, Carolyn Banks and Joan Banks; close friends, Sharon Davis, Ida Holland, Willa McNair and Lillian Taylor; and a host of other family members and friends.
