Essie "Bell" Collins

October 1, 1937 - January 12, 2022

Essie B. Collins, was born to the late Abraham and Mazeline Hamilton, on October 1, 1937, in Tarboro, South Carolina. She departed this life on January 12, 2022. Bell, as she was affectionately called, attended school in the Jasper County School System of South Carolina. She resided in Cambridge, Maryland, until she met and married her late husband, Garfield Collins. Bell then moved to Seaford, Delaware, to start life there. For many years Bell drove buses for the Seaford School District, later working as a caregiver taking care of seniors. Bell always did whatever she could to help others. Up until her illness she would help provide transportation to seniors and assist anyone she could. Her most favorite she was known for was the nurturing and affection for her dogs. Often, she could be seen in the front yard as neighborhood kids as well as adults stopped by to see Ms. Bell and her dog. She treated each one as if it were a child. Bell had no family in Seaford, however, she had two neighbors that were just like family, Marlene Mann & Darlene Robinson. They were her living angels until the day she was called home. Bell leaves to mourn her passing, two brothers, Abraham Hamilton (Jeanette) of PA and Ernest Holmes of NY; sister-in-law, Betty Hamilton of FL; two nieces, Patricia Tucker & Ernestine Holmes, both of NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
