David Aldridge Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

David “PePaw” Aldridge, Sr., USAF, Ret, MGST (77) of Magnolia, Delaware, passed away on January 14, 2022. David was born on August 12,1944, to Samuella Turman, in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Covert High School in 1963, and joined the United States Air Force shortly thereafter. In 1964, David married his high school sweetheart, Doris Baber of Covert Michigan. He traveled to many different places during his 26 years in active-duty. After retiring, he was employed and retired from the Delaware Department of Corrections in Smyrna, Delaware. David enjoyed watching old westerns, Perry Mason and the news. He also enjoyed going to the local Post Office and Dollar General to check on “the girls”, Spence’s Bazaar, and talking to his neighbors, Bud and Kay. He was an avid softball player during his time in the Air Force and enjoyed watching High School basketball and “not” watching his beloved Chicago Bears. David was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Aldridge; mother, Samuella Turman; mother-in-law, Earline (Dear) Baber Simmons; sister, Lynetta Aldridge; sister-in-law, Rosita Aldridge; brothers-in-law, Harold Baber, William Baber, Wilbert Baber, Sr., John Stewart and Herman Hawkins. David leaves to cherish his memories; his beloved wife of 57 years, Doris Aldridge; children, Davina Aldridge of Magnolia, DE, David Aldridge, Jr. (Carla) of Dover DE; Darrell Aldridge (Claudia) of Richmond, VA and Danitra Shuford of Goldsboro, NC; grandchildren, Devona, Jenna (Brandon), Deidre, Takia (honorable grandson-in-law, Pierre), Daquan, Jamal, Destiny, Zahria, Bryon, Alex, Averie, Keith, Kendel, Adrie, Courtney, and Donte; great-grandchildren, Kennadi, Kinsleigh, Brielle, Dominic, Jaylen and Tori Foreman; honorary grandchildren, Quinche, and Quyri Fuller, Amanda Holman and Thomas Pendleton; goddaughter, Adonia Arriola, whom he loved and treasured them with all his heart. He also leaves behind his siblings, Leslie Turman, Starlyn Aldridge, Michael Aldridge, George Aldridge, Samuel Turman, Jimmy Turman and Adam Turman; two loving aunts, Dorothy and Annie; uncle, Lonnie; sisters-in-law, Yvonne Hawkins, Jacqueline Laws (Phillip) and Gwendolyn Stewart; brothers-in-law: Clarence Baber (Harriett), Arnold Watson (Lillie) and Michael Baber (Veronica); and a host of nieces and nephews.
