Clifton Collins Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Clifton Collins, 74, of Hurlock, MD, quietly departed this life and took his eternal rest with the lord on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton, MD. He was born on March 19, 1948, in Exmore, VA, to the late Frank Collins Sr. and Beatrice Collins. Clifton moved to Hurlock at an early age, receiving his formal education in the public schools of Dorchester County, graduating with the Maces Lane High School - Class of 1967. He went on to further his education, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1971 and a Master of Education in 1985 from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. On August 14, 1971, he was joined in Holy Matrimony to Beverly Young Collins. God blessed their union with his only child, Lynnell G. Collins Thomas. He began his teaching career with the Talbot County Board of Education in 1972 and retired after 33 years. After retirement, he kept busy with multiple projects around his home. He loved fishing, painting, gardening, watching football, old westerns, and listening to music in his spare time. Clifton loved his family. His most significant accomplishments were being a brother, husband, father, and a grandfather. He was always there for his family through their difficulties, teaching them to come together and stand firm. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank Collins, Sr. and Beatrice Collins; sister Virginia Collins; brother Frank Collins, Jr.; sister-in-law Shirley Nicholson; and brother-in-law Russell Thomas. Those left to cherish the life, love, and memories are: his loving wife Beverly Collins of Hurlock, MD; daughter Lynnell Thomas (Lorenzo) of East New Market, MD; granddaughter Taylor Martin of Hurlock, MD; brothers Thomas Collins, Sr. (Doretha) and William Collins, Sr. (Barbara) of Hurlock, MD; sister Geneva Thomas of Denton, MD; sister-in-laws Lenore Purnell of Cambridge, MD and Patsy Collins of Hurlock, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and friends.
