Christine Williams
July 4, 1943 - February 5, 2022
Christine Joanne “Joan” Crumpler Williams, 78, of Milford, DE peacefully departed this life on Saturday, February 5th 2022. Joan was born in Claymont, DE to the late Joseph and Josephine Crumpler. She was a lifelong nurturer and devoted her life to helping others. She was a Registered Nurse and retired after 30 years of dedicated service from Riverside Hospital in Wilmington, DE. During her high school years, her father was one of the petitioners in the case Belton (Bulah) v. Gebhart, which allowed Joan and her siblings to become part of the first African-American students to be integrated into Claymont High School. The trials and tribulations they faced during this time of racial tension only brought them closer together as a family. Joan was a die-hard Eagles fan and loved to watch them play, almost as much as she loved to browse the items on QVC and HSN. Her guilty pleasure shows were 90 Day Fiancé and Street Outlaws, and her favorite movies were The Waterboy and Forrest Gump. She was greeted in heaven by her parents, her brothers Elbert and David Crumpler, her sisters Geraldine Hackett and Roberta Crumpler, and her niece whom she loved so dearly, Sonya Byers-Holley. She leaves behind two sons that she adored, George and Duane Williams, her brother Joseph Crumpler Jr.; her beloved grandchildren, Brittany, Cheyanna, Noah, Kaylee, and Ava Williams; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
