Alfreda "Mickey" Lee Cannon

May 1, 1944 - January 14, 2022

Alfreda Savage Cannon, lovingly known as “Mickey”, was born on Monday, May 1, 1944, in Seaford, Delaware, to Elsie Mae Savage Hopkins and Harlan Roach. She transitioned this life on January 14, 2022. Mickey was raised by her aunt and uncle, the late Reba and Norman Mapp. Mickey married Melvin Cannon, Sr. in 1965, and from this union three children were born; Melvin Cannon, Jr. of Bridgeville, Delaware; Tammy Cannon (Thenda) of Bridgeville, Delaware and Lakeisha Cannon-Cook of Bridgeville, Delaware, all of whom survive her. Alfreda was educated at the Blocksom School in Seaford, Delaware, Frederick Douglass School in Seaford, Delaware and William C. Jason Comprehensive High School in Georgetown, Delaware. Mickey’s work experience led her to Paramount Poultry in Harbeson, Delaware and eventually to the E. I. DuPont de Nemours Nylon Plant in Seaford, Delaware, from where she retired after more than 20 years of service. She enjoyed bowling and was on multiple leagues. She often traveled to different bowling alleys to compete, and won several trophies. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, dance and play music. Alfreda was an owner, caretaker and fan of Harness Race Horses. Mickey enjoyed spending time with her husband, Melvin, and would often ride with him in the log truck. She liked to fish with the family and would usually catch the largest one. She had a green thumb and took great pleasure in watering and tending to her flowers. Alfreda was preceded in death by two sisters, Loretta Brown and Delores McDowell; one brother, Harlan Savage; son-in-law, Bryant Cook; brothers-in-law, Harry Trammell, Nelson Brown, Jimmy Harmon, Brooks (Elaine) Cannon, Sr., Robert Cannon, William Justice and Wayne Cannon; as well as a grandchild, Mya Spady. Along with her husband and children, Alfreda leaves to mourn her loss, one brother; James Savage of Salisbury, MD; one sister, Phyllis Trammell of Seaford, DE; grandchildren, Shellise Cannon, Michiala Batson, Melvin Cannon III, Brandon Henley, Jr., Alijae Cannon, Marvin Spady, Jr., Nigel Prattis, Keishawn Spady, Zaki Prattis, Mercedes Nuneman, Anya Cannon, and Charliyah Deshields; and one great-grandson, Michiah Grainger. Also surviving Mickey are her brothers & sisters-in-law, Barbara Harmon, Donald Cannon (Henrietta), Theresa Justice, Alicia Cannon and Ronnie Cannon.
