Margaret Ann Fountain, passed away peacefully at home, on July 11, 2020, in Dover, Delaware, at the age of 73. Margaret was born on August 3, 1946, in Cuthbert, Georgia, the daughter of the late Ceola B. Harrison and the late Clarence Graddy.

Margaret graduated from Henderson High School in Cuthbert, in 1964. She married in 1965, and three children were born of that marriage. After moving to Milton, Delaware, then Dover, Delaware, Margaret began working for Kraft General Foods and remained there for 35 years. Margaret provided the foundation that would allow her children to become successful in various careers. Her children remember her as a kind, but driven mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Margaret was a business person at heart. Due to limited stores in Milton and Dover, she created purchasing options for local residents, by opening a store, as well as becoming a supplier of boutique items. Margaret also loved to travel and took trips to France, Germany, Morocco, Spain, the Philippines and Hong Kong. In her pursuit of traveling to various places, Margaret encouraged her many friends to join her by organizing trips to New York City, Pennsylvania, the Caribbean and many other destinations.

Margaret was well versed in using personal computers. She enjoyed learning and enrolled in continuing education classes at Wesley College and Polytech Adult Education. Margaret was a dedicated member of the Calvary Baptist Church, in Dover, Delaware, where she was an active member of the Healing Hurts Committee and a past member of the Hospitality Committee.  She was a member of the Red Hatters, as well as Eastern Star. She was a generous individual who was passionate about being involved in the community. She was also a constant contributor of many local organizations that supported our youth, elders and underserved communities.

Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Vernon Fountain of Millsboro, DE and granddaughters, Vertrice Fountain of Millsboro, DE and Vernette Fountain of Wilmington, DE.

Margaret is survived by children, Cheryl Fountain of Mount Rainier, MD and Veronica Fountain of Bowie, MD; siblings Marie Graddy of Matthews, NC and Rhonda Houston of Matthews, NC.

Sorry for your loss. Margaret use to organize luncheons for the retirees of Kraft. But I believe anyone was welcome who worked there. I happened to go on a couple of the trips she organized to New York City. She was a beautiful lady, but you all knew that. Again, sorry for your loss. Karen Evans, former co-worker

Sister Margaret was a beautiful, kind, generous, sweet spirit. I never saw her without a smile and she always had a kind word or hug to share. I remember the time I arranged to purchase some of her famous Michele Obama purses for my Mom’s 90th birthday. We had such a great visit, laughing and talking. She will be greatly missed!

Dear Trina and Veronica,

Your mother was an amazing woman, who blessed the lives of numerous people, in so many ways. Over the years, she and I held in home Bible Study and prayed together. I cherish that time and am grateful for the memories. I'll miss her acts of kindness, as well as her big, beautiful smile, that she gave freely to everyone.

Margaret had a strong faith in God. I can still hear her brave words, "Don't give up and don't give in", and she didn't. She fought a good fight and she kept the faith.

Margaret was loved and will be truly missed, especially by me. She will forever be in my heart.

Rest in peace, my sister, my friend!
