Obituary

Levenia E. Smith, 89, of Seaford, Delaware, died during the early morning hours of September 9, 2020.  She was born December 28,1930, in Bethel, Delaware, to Charles and Levenia Deshields.

Levenia retired from NCR in Millsboro, Delaware, as a line inspector, overseeing the production of cash registers.  Additionally, she loved working with children and worked as an educator in the Seaford School District “HEAD START” Program, teaching
pre-school children.  She was also a volunteer worker at the Senior Center and Thrift Store in Laurel, Delaware. She loved to sing, play piano and read her Bible.

Levenia was a devoted Christian and Mother of the Church at New Birth Ministries in Cambridge, Maryland.

Levenia had six brothers, Raymond, Charles, Leon, Sonny, Andrew and John-Henry, all of whom preceded her in death.  She also had four sisters, Edna, Helen, and Sarah whom preceded her in death and one surviving sister, Betty Davis of New Jersey.

In addition, Levenia is survived by her husband of 22 years, Henry L. Smith, Jr.; children, Susan Matthews (Marvin) of Salisbury, Maryland, Jeffrey Matthews (Genean) of Dover, Delaware, Louretha Savage of Seaford, Delaware and Devon Matthews of Newark, Delaware.  She also had three stepchildren, Henry Smith III, of Michigan, Colleen Mitchell of Georgia and William Otis Smith of Smyrna, Delaware.

Levenia’s family tree flourishes with nine grandchildren, 17
great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren and a vast host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Rest in peace Levenia, your love and dedication to the Lord, to your family, friends and church will be missed, but never be forgotten.  Your light will shine on your family for generations to come.
