Geraldine “Gerry” Elizabeth Freeman, daughter of the late Evangelist Consuella White and Alvin Brown, was born February 8, 1940, in Dover, Delaware. She departed this life June 4, 2020, after a short illness.

Geraldine received her education at William Henry School. She was employed at Lumar’s in Smyrna, Delaware and later began working at General Foods, where she remained employed for 26 years, until her retirement in 1998.

Geraldine married Titus Freeman and later divorced. Ms. Freeman gave her life to Christ while attending Greater Life Christian Church. She changed membership to Calvary Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board and the Sanctuary Choir. Gerry was loved and liked by all for her HUGE heart and love for people. She would allow the kids’ friends to get a hot meal or spend the night if they needed it. She never met strangers, just extended family members, because once she met you, it was as if you immediately became family. She was an avid Bid Whist player and she was known for being one of the best Bop dancers around.

During the ups and downs of life, Gerry remained a praying woman who loved the Lord. Her children would make sure she watched Calvary Online to hear the word and praise God.

Gerry was preceded in death by her twin sister, Bernadine Brooks; her son, Jerome Freeman; one grandson, Timothy Freeman; three brothers, Foster Brooks, William Brooks and Lawrence Brooks; and an adopted daughter, Valerie Bartley.

Gerry leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Terry Brooks (Janice) of Felton, Titus Freeman of Dover, DE and Jeremiah Freeman (Tiffany) of Camden, DE; three daughters, Wanda Bythwood (Ronney) of Valdosta, GA, Wyzetta Freeman and Sylviaanna Freeman of Dover, DE; close cousins, Bennie Dickerson of Detroit, MI and Margaret Senner of Hampton, VA; 23 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
