George Oliver Griffin, 80, of Teaneck, New Jersey, entered into eternal peace Monday, May 18, 2020, at Holy Name Medical Center.

Oliver, or "Griffin", as he was often referred to by family, was born on Wednesday, January 3,1940, to the late George Cornelius Griffin and Mary Ellen Griffin (nee Handy).

Oliver received his formal education in the Queen Anne’s County Public Schools, attending the historical Kennard High School. He received spiritual training in the home of his parents and at Metropolitan United Methodist Church, also as Gouldtown Church.

Oliver will always be remembered for his caring and loving way. Throughout the years, Oliver’s hobbies consisted of playing cards, playing softball, and fishing. In his younger days, he worked on an oyster boat in Maryland, before relocating to Spring Valley, New York, in 1959. Over the years, George worked various construction jobs in New York and New Jersey.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by one son, Leslie “Von” Griffin; brother, Robert Leon Griffin; 4 sisters, Althea Henry, Doris Gould, Mary Jenkins and Lorraine Roberts.
Oliver leaves to mourn, one sister, Dorothy “Elaine” Warrick of Grasonville, MD; six children, Linda Bordley of Stevensville, MD, Victor Mills of Cambridge, MD, Valerie Johnson of Spring Valley, NY, LaTonya Knowles (Charles) of Lawrenceville, GA, Darrell Griffin (Dawn) of Middletown, NY and Eric Griffin (Tasha) of Spring Valley, NY. He also leaves to cherish his memory, 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
