Obituary

Elsa Wilson (Cuffy) was born on November 14, 1952, in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, West Indies, to Herman and Edna Cuffy. Both parents preceeded her in death. Elsa came to America as a young teenager. She was one of thirteen siblings.

Elsa attended John Batram High School, where she met Samuel Wilson. Elsa was teased in high school for her Caribbean accent, which is what attracted Sam to her, as well as her personality. Sam and Elsa were married in 1975 and out of that union, they had two daughters, Corrine and Lisa. Elsa graduated from Community College of Philadelphia, where she received her Associate Degree in Accounting.

Elsa loved cooking, overseeing Sam with “her garden”, and spending quality time with her husband and all of her family and friends. Elsa was a proud grandmother to Kennedy (whom she named), Joshua, Lauren, and Sophia. The holidays and Sunday dinners were Elsa’s time to shine, as she used her culinary skills, which always left everyone wanting more. Sam tells the story of them being married very young and Elsa not being able to boil water. Elsa perfected her skills to be the Master Chef she will be remembered as.

Elsa loved good music, Classic Rock. Oftentimes, you would hear her singing to her favorites. Elsa loved NCIS and Law and Order SVU - she binged watched these television shows so much, that she would debate anyone who challenged her knowledge, as if the characters were real people.  Elsa also loved Jeopardy! and Turner Classic Movies, her favorite movies were Casablanca and Imitation of Life.

Elsa and Sam moved to Magnolia, Delaware, five years ago to retire and to enjoy peace and tranquility. They would try out restaurants in their new area and Elsa proclaimed Rudy’s Restaurant in Harrington as her favorite breakfast spot. Rudy’s is where she had breakfast on the day of her passing.

Elsa will be missed by all who loved her as she was truly one of a kind. Elsa had no filter, she would tell you how she felt about something, then make you a plate of food.

Elsa is survived by her husband, Sam; two daughters, Corrine (Marcus) and Lisa; grandchildren, Kennedy, Joshua, Lauren and Sophia (Little Elsa). She is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Daphne (Steve), Hudson (Marjorie), Ermine (Soloman, d.), Veltie (Alpheus “Sonny”), Patsie (Garfield), Zita, Judy (Leon), Kenneth (Debbie), Edward (Brenda), Basford, Cheryl (Thomas) and Arthur (Angela); mother-in Law, Ida Wilson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Elsa was a feisty woman with a zest for life. She will be deeply missed.
