Obituary

Elizabeth Virginia Lawrence, a native of Felton, Delaware, was born on February 26, 1929, and departed this life on June 17, 2020. She is the daughter of the late John and Mabel Perry.

Elizabeth graduated high school in 1947, from Delaware State. Prior to high school, she attended Reeve’s Crossing and Booker T. Washington, where she received high honor certificates, and honor attendance certificates.

Elizabeth was an avid reader. Her favorite pastimes were finding a good yard sale, shopping at Boscov’s and taking bus trips. She looked forward to family reunions, where she would spend time with family, laughing and having a good time. On most Sundays after church service, she could be found at Kirby and Holloway with her friend Teresa.

Elizabeth was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, before succumbing to her illness. She was a part of the Just Friends organization within Calvary Baptist, however, these ladies were more than just friends, they were a sisterhood. They cared for one another and could lean on each other in times of trouble. They not only blessed the church and community, but each other as well.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Lawrence; daughter, Gloria Jean Davis and granddaughter, Corey Davis.

Elizabeth is survived by three daughters, Shirley Boyd (Eugene) of Clayton, DE, Doris Jeter (Ted) of Dover, DE and Kimberly Lawrence of MD; nine grandchildren, Sheron Perry, James Davis, Devon Steele, Toni Poe, Eugene Boyd III, Shauna Petersen, Shanae Boyd, Oliver Cooper IV and Constance Davis; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, great-great grandchildren and friends.
