Obituary

Dorothy Lee Cross Langston, of Dover, Delaware, departed this life on November 6, 2020, exactly eight years to the date as her beloved husband, Arthur Wesley Langston.

Dorothy Langston was born on September 23, 1931, daughter of the late Charlie Cross and Annie Lee Ballard Cross, in Gates, North Carolina.

Dorothy attended public school in the Gates County School District. After graduating from high school, she moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she attended the Educational Institute.

Dorothy worked in the Capital School District and retired in 1996, after 23 years of employment.

Dorothy was an excellent cook and loved preparing meals for her family. She was known for her homemade rolls, which were loved by all that were fortunate to partake of them. Dorothy loved crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. Her favorite book to read was the Bible. She loved to sing and sang every Sunday for a number of years with the Union Baptist Church choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; son, Kenneth Webster Langston, as well as two sisters and one brother.

Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Cheryle Thompson of Dover, DE; one son Jeffrey Langston and his wife, Annette of Bear, DE; two grandchildren, Tiaja Langston of Dover, DE and Jordan Langston and his wife, Christine of Wynnewood, PA and one great-grandson, Malachi Langston-Sudler of Dover, DE, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
