Obituary

Charles Edward Scott, of Smyrna, Delaware, slipped away into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, June 26, 2020, at Bayhealth Medical Center, Kent Campus. He was born on Wednesday, April 4, 1945, in Cannon, Delaware, near Bridgeville, to Anna Morris and James Scott.

Charlie, as he was affectionally called by his friends, was a very loving and jovial person. He loved people and they loved him. Once he met you, he never forgot you. You were his friend for life!

Charles was a man of great faith. He loved to praise the Lord through singing and prayer. He could be heard singing, Rejoice in the Lord Always, and Lift the Savior Up. One of his favorite sayings was, “God is good, and God is good all the time”. Charles also enjoyed going to dances sponsored by the ARC of Delaware and Chimes.

Charles was employed at Procter and Gamble and later went to work for McDonalds on Route 10. The customers truly cared about him and always looked forward to seeing his smiling face and hearing his kind words. After retiring from McDonalds, Charles spent his days at the Chimes Dover Enrichment and retired from there in June 2019.

Charlie loved to give back to the community. He was a long-term member of the Kent County Chimes Aktion Club.  He enjoyed working on fundraisers. He never missed a meeting and always led each meeting with a prayer.  Money raised from the Aktion Club fundraisers purchased food and personal items for the Dover homeless shelters and rocking chairs for The Home of the Brave in Milford, Delaware. Every holiday, Charlie and other Aktion Club members made cards for the local nursing homes.  Mr. Charlie, along with his peers, took great pride in delivering those cards in person.

Charles will be missed by his Chimes Family, including support staff and his housemates, as well as a few close colleagues and friends.

Those of us at The Arc of Delaware remember Charles as a friendly and kind man. He was always willing to say the blessing over the food as we met for the Mid-Del Annual Meeting dinner. Charles enjoyed visiting with friends at our recreation events. He will certainly be missed.

Charles, rest in peace with the Savior you told us so much about.
