Obituary

Charles Benson Jackson, III “Chuckie” was born on Monday, May 6, 1974, in Dover, Delaware, to joyous parents, Sharon A. Thomas and Charles Benson Jackson, Jr. After a lengthy illness, Chuckie peacefully departed this life on Tuesday evening, October 27, 2020, at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, in Philadelphia, PA, surrounded by his parents and siblings.

Chuckie received his secondary education in the Capital School District, graduating in 1993, from Dover High School. He also attended Delaware State College. Over the years, he periodically attended various churches in the Dover area, but he most recently attended Calvary Baptist Church, in Dover.

Chuckie’s most recent employment was at Purdue Farms in Milford, Delaware, where he volunteered to serve as a Youth Mentor at the Purdue Farms Community Action Program. He was also employed at Dover Air Force Base with Tony’s Landscaping. In addition, he was a professional painter and was hired by various companies, including H. Construction, to do painting jobs.

Chuckie was an avid sports fan and rooted for his favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles, whenever they played. As a child, he played Little League Baseball and in high school, Chuckie played basketball, baseball, football and ran track. He also loved mechanical drawing, a skill he picked up from his dad. More than that, though, he enjoyed drawing all kinds of things, especially people and landscapes. He loved “old school” music and jazz, but he particularly loved the smooth jazz artist, Sade. He also was fascinated with history and he loved to cook.

Chuckie was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lillian and Charles Jackson, Sr.; his uncle, Roy Murray; and best friend, Ruben Goicuria.

Chuckie leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Sharon Thomas, Dover, DE; father, Charles B. Jackson, Jr. (Valerie), Dover, DE; three sisters, Brittany Gregory, New Castle, DE, Chanda Jackson-Short (Orlando), Dover, DE and Chante’ Jackson-Johnson (Cameron), Dover, DE; two children, Makaiyah and Makenzie Jackson, both of Dover; two brothers, Schuyler Kennedy (Amanda), Smyrna, DE and Girard Gregory, Jr., Dover, DE; one stepbrother, John Leggett, Smyrna, DE; maternal grandmother, Phyllis Kennedy, Dover, DE; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends..

Sorrowfully submitted,
The Family
