Obituary

Cammie Ann Johnson (Rickards) ,was born to William E. Rickards Jr. (Rose) and the late Hattie M. Rickards (Hudson) on August 10, 1966. She departed this life on August 2, 2020. Cammie was raised by her aunt, Maylona E. Hayward (Joe).

Cammie was a former student of Cape Henlopen High School. She graduated in 1984, with high honors. She later attended Delaware Technical and Community College, in Georgetown, Delaware, and later received her certification as a Nursing Assistant from Vo-Tech. During
her early years of employment, she worked at the family business as a housekeeper at the Surfs Inn. She stepped out on her own in 1991, and found employment at The Stockley Center, in Georgetown. She retired in September 2018. After retirement, she continued to work in the nursing field. She loved working with seniors at Interim Home Healthcare. She tried working with children at Beginnings and Beyond Daycare, but found that was not her calling.

In her younger years, Cammie played softball with her sisters and cousin. She continued the love of the game into adulthood, playing at the Gun and Rod Club. Cammie was big NFL fan and always rooted for the Washington Redskins, as well as an NBA fan with the LA Lakers being her favorite basket ball team. Win or lose, she was faithful fan.

Cammie truly was a stand-up comedian before her time. She loved to read romance novels, hair magazines, newspapers, and the word of God with a tall cup of coffee that she never finished. She was well known by family and friends for her famous “mac-n-cheese”. Cammie loved serving God’s people and served in many capacities including as an usher, a member of the pastor’s aide and a choir member of Power and Love Ministries. She was a member of Podd Church at the time of her passing. She also taught the Sunday School Me Too Class, and provided the children with snacks, which earned her the nickname “Sister Cookie”.

Cammie was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mary E. Hudson; husband, Travis Mifflin; mothers-in law, Doris M. Johnson and Marsha D. Timmons; sisters, Caraline McCoy, Vanessa L. Bratton; brothers, Ernest S. Hudson, Sr., Ervin W Rickards, David Rickards, Ricky Rickards and Michael Rogers and nephew, James L. Rickards, Sr.

Cammie leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Asa Johnson; daughters, Hattie Norwood (Tremayne, Sr.), Tashonda Rickards and Tiffany Riddick(Charles); grandchildren, Sianni, Tayvon, Malachi, Adrionna, Tremayne, Jr., Nehemiah, Haideya, Naziyah, Antonio Jr., Harlem, Harmony and Heaven; brothers and sisters, George Dale (Sumiko), William Hudson, Edna Gibbs, Bruce Hudson (Debbie), Darrelyn Ricketts, Michael Ricketts (Cliffinette), Sandra Holland (Anthony), Sandra Prelude (William), Lorna Mitchelll (Corneilus), Lori Mc Cray, Tanya Mann (Gregory, Sr.), Katina Rogers, Danyell Mc Cray, Charmayne Mc Cray, Daryll Kellam, Leslie Hudson, Lamont Hudson; lifelong family friend, Earl F. Oney and family; two sisters-in-law, Tijvana Brooks and Terri Johnson; two brothers-in-law, Christopher Johnson and Quincy Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Lovingly Submitted,
The Family
