Obituary

“To my Family and Friends: God gave me a good life as he tested me on my way to the Gates of Heaven. I couldn’t see him, but I heard his voice with my eyes closed saying, “you are welcome home.”

Benjamin McCullough, Jr., was born in Chester, South Carolina, to the late Janie Bell Hicks McCullough and Benjamin McCullough, Sr., on March 21, 1927. Benjamin departed this life on June 23, 2020, at WellStar North Fulton Hospital, in Roswell, Georgia.

Benjamin worked many jobs starting at a young age, but retired from the Tetley–Coca Cola Company in Morris Plains, New Jersey, where he worked as a machine operator for many years.

Benjamin loved the Lord and his family. He also loved to dress up, whenever he could, in his stylish hats. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Boonton, New Jersey, where he was a member of the Senior Choir and the Male Choir. Benjamin also worshipped at the Nazareth Baptist Church, in Rock Hill, South Carolina and Union Baptist Church in Easton, Maryland, where he was a member of the Brotherhood of Elders.

Benjamin was predeceased by his sisters, Marie McCullough, Hope Eliza McCullough, Earlene McCullough Beatty, Martha L. McCullough Miller and Clara Bell McCullough Feely; brother, James Frank McCullough and his beloved wife of 42 years, Marina Luretta McCullough.

Benjamin leaves to cherish loving memories, four sons, Tyrone (Bette) of Morristown, NJ, Michael (Natasha) of Durham, NC, Fabian (Robin) of Rock Hill, SC and Benny (Minnie) of Snellville, GA; three daughters, Gretcheline of East Point, GA, Brenda and Donna both of Rock Hill, SC; four sisters, Anajane Forbes of Dover, NJ, Mary Boyce of Rockaway, NJ, Ruby McCullough of Morristown, NJ and Helen Oguje (Lewis) of Dover, NJ; three brothers, John of Morristown, NJ, Willie of Madison, NJ and Robert (Sheila) of Stanhope, NJ; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

I am grateful to have known Mr. Ben while attending Union Baptist Church. Mr. Ben always had a giant smile and an encouraging word to share. He took great pride in being apart of the praise dance ministry over the years. He will be truly missed!
Take a moment a view this one memory that is near and dear to my heart. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YTHZ5m58sw
