Obituary

Alfonzo Price, the son of the late Aron Price, Sr., and Letha Mae Price, was born in Milford, Delaware, on September 26, 1958. He departed this earthly life, peacefully and gracefully, on September 23, 2020, among family. He was 61 years old.

Alfonzo was educated in the Cape Henlopen School District and graduated from Cape Henlopen High School, in 1978. After graduating, he was employed by Ward Components, Georgetown, DE, from 1978-1980. From 1980-1981, Alfonzo was employed by National Cash Register (NCR), Millsboro, DE and then relocated to NCR’s plant in Liberty, SC, where he was employed from 1981-1992. In 1992, Alfonzo decided to return home, working various jobs, including Seawatch International, Milford, DE; Perdue Farms, Georgetown, DE; Allen’s Poultry, Harbeson, DE; Intervet (Merck), Millsboro, DE and Donut Connection, Harbeson, DE. In 2010, he began working for Sapps Cleaning Service, Wilmington, DE. Alfonzo and Marvin Sapp automatically became the best of friends. Marvin would have him hire employees for the business. He did such a good job for Sapps Cleaning, that in 2015, Delaware Sleep Disorder Center, Wilmington, DE, hired him to work for them. He was employed there until his illness would no longer allow him to work. He met a lot of people while working for Sapps Cleaning Service and Delaware Sleep Disorder Center and became friends with many of them. Alfonzo was a dedicated employee and enjoyed working at both locations.

Alfonzo was a member of First Congregational Church, Milton, DE, where he served as a deacon, sang on the church choir and was a soloist. Alfonzo would do anything that the church asked of him. He loved his church. While living in Easley, SC, he joined Easley Chapel United Methodist Church, in 1982. He sang on Easley Chapel’s Ensemble, Senior Choir, the children and youth choirs, bowled on the church’s bowling team, drove the Sunday School van and worked with the children and youth ministries. He loved Easley Chapel and its members.

Alfonzo enjoyed traveling with his family and friends, as well as cooking for them. He also enjoyed talking about the Lord.

Alfonzo was preceded in death by his father, Aron Price, Sr. (1993); mother, Letha Mae Price (2010); sister, Cathy Price Massey (2002) and brother, Aron Price, Jr. (2020).

Alfonzo leaves a loving family to cherish his precious memories, three brothers, Charles Cave, Sr. (Mary), Sammie Price, Sr. (Wanda) and Teddy Price (Gwen); two sisters, Janie Price and Kymisha Price; sister-in-law, Estheleta Price; brother-in-law, Wayne Massey; two aunts, Emma Dukes and Minnie Brooks; two uncles, Angus Price and Jerry Price (Viola); goddaughter, Lauren Hunter, SC; special friends, Reba Frederica “Freddie” Hunter and Bonita Williams, SC and Rev. James Stevenson, Pasadena, CA and lifetime friends, Christy Stevenson Taylor, Maurice Evans and Kevin Hopkins. He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews.
