Yvonne McPherson

Yvonne Ella Bowe McPherson, was born on August 26, 1962. She departed this life on June 6, 2014, in Millsboro DE. She was born to the late Jessie Lee Franklin Bowe and the late Riddick Theodore Bowe, in Milford, DE. The family migrated to Delaware from Elizabeth City, NC around 1951. Yvonne was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God, founded by the late Bishop Clarence Cartwright. Yvonne attended Milford Public Schools and graduated from Milford Senior High in 1980. She attended Delaware State College for a brief time. Yvonne had a very bubbling personality and the biggest smile. A big smile which helped her acquire a variety of positions, including H&R Block, as a tax preparer; a receptionist at Bayhealth ER (Milford); L.D. Caulk; Delaware Housing Authority, and her most recent as a switchboard operator at Wesley College, Dover, DE. Ultimately, her illness prevented her from working. Yvonne married the late Dale Shockley in 1984 and from this union three children were born. She found love again and married Leroy McPherson on April 9, 2009. They were married until her transition on June 6. No children were born of this union. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband, Leroy McPherson; three children, Dalneisha Shockley, (Dover, DE); Ariel Shockley (New Castle, DE); Dale Shockley Jr. (Fayetteville, NC); five step-children, DaShon James (Milford, DE); Tykwan James (Milford, DE); Leroy Worthy (Milford, DE); LaTrice Worthy (Milford, DE); Ashley Woumans (Lincoln, DE); four grandchildren, Dalen and Makhyla (Dalneisha); Adon Lamore (Ariel); and Zahria (Dale Jr.); six step grandchildren, Jadyn, Camille, Shae (DaShon); Tykwan, Alexis (Tykwan); Aree (Ashley); mother-in-law, Elsie Mae McPherson (Milford, DE); father-in-law, Leroy Walker (Newland, NC); one sister, Joan L. Haynesworth of Waldorf, MD; eight brothers, Theodis Bowe (Lena) of Millsboro, DE, Joseph E. Bowe (Donna) of Bowie, MD, William L. Bowe (Rose) of Ellendale, DE, Everett E. Bowe (Paulette) of Dover, DE, Larry D. Bowe (Felicia) of Lincoln, DE, Lynnwood Bowe (Janet) of Felton, DE, Louellis Bowe (Marilyn) of Felton, DE, and Jacques Bowe (Brenda) of Lincoln, DE; an adopted sister Shirley Hooper (Dover, DE); three brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends and other family.
