Yolanda D Brown

Yolanda Denise Brown, affectionately known as Denny, was born January 8, 1955 and transitioned from earth to her heavenly home on Sunday, April 28, 2013. Denny was born in New York City to Alice and the late James R. Cann Sr. Denny began her education in the public schools of New York City. After moving to Maryland with her parents in 1967, she finished her education in the Kent County School System, graduating in 1974. After high school, Denny worked for the Campbell Soup Company for many years. Denny truly had a loving and caring heart. This compassionate spirit led Denny to leave Campbell Soup and open a business. The Brown Care Home was not a facility but a place where the residents felt like they were part of the family. There was always good food and plenty of love. Denny was united in holy matrimony to Roger Alexander Brown on June 26, 1976. This union was blessed with two children: daughter, Tyeisha Nikira Brown and son, Jamale Alexander Brown and one grandson, Khari Tamaris Brown. Denny loved watching sports. She loved watching all sports but was an ultimate fan of the Baltimore Ravens. Denny loved to cook. Her family will miss all of her creations especially her crab cakes. Denny’s favorite past time was shopping. She was a frequent shopper of HSN and QVC. Pete used to say, ‘the brown truck stops at our house every day.” But more than cooking, her business, or shopping, Denny’s true passion was her family; she loved her time spent talking, cooking, and caring for Pete, Tyeisha, Jamale and Khari. As she said, “They are a part of me…they are my heart.” Denny was preceded in death by her father, James R. Cann, Sr. Denny leaves to cherish her memory her devoted and loving husband of 36 years Pete; her children: daughter, Tyeisha and son, Jamale; mother, Alice E. Cann; siblings, Eric Brice, Bernadette Clinkscales (Eugene), and James R. Cann, Jr. (Linda); grandson, Khari; brother-in-law, Rev. Anthony Brown (Peggy); sister-in-law, Catherine Broadway; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; and very special friend, Arliss Commodore also known as Nina, as Denny liked to call her.
