Willie’s Life Story Willie Bernard Sampson peacefully departed this life going home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 4, 2024. He was at his home surrounded by his loving children and grandchildren. On May 24, 1937, Willie, the seventh child, was born to the late Jacob Elmer Sampson, Jr. and Florence Evelyn Camper Sampson at the family home in Salem, Maryland. He was married on May 6, 1961 to the late Barbara Cornish at Bethel Church in Cambridge, Maryland. Willie attended Dorchester County Schools and graduated with the class of 1954 from Maces Lane High School. After working 30 years at the Eastern Shore Hospital Center, Willie retired from the State of Maryland. Willie loved his work and would go the extra mile to make the patients he served comfortable in their environment. He kept up with his continuing education training and was very committed to his profession. He also assisted his brothers with their farming business and later launched his own lawn service company. He employed his brothers for over 20 years in the lawn service business. Willie was quiet by nature and when he spoke, his words were weighty. Willie was talented in various capacities and known for his high IQ. He was always there for his immediate and extended family. He was a very generous person and regularly gave to support those in need. Willie enjoyed watching westerns and the Dallas Cowboys, his favorite football team. He also enjoyed studying the Upper Room devotional and his favorite scripture was Psalm 23. Willie was a member of the Methodist Men and a Trustee at Faith Community United Methodist Church in East New Market, Maryland. He also served as the President of the Usher Board and President of the Cemetery Committee. Willie leaves to mourn and cherish his memories: his children, Gregory Sampson, Jacqueline Melton and Rosalyn Sampson; grandchildren, Bryan Farrow, Takara Melton, Khadijah Sampson, Atear Frock and Zakiyah Sampson; great grandchildren, Kali Brooks and Da’ Mear Frock; one brother, Jacob Sampson and two sisters, Delores Henry and Mildred Symonette and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is also survived by: his brothers-in-law, James Thompson and James Cornish and sisters-in-law, Marva Sampson and Guinevere Banks; a special friend, Ed Cornish; a bonus son, Andre Kane and a bonus brother, Joseph Chester. He was preceded in death by: his beloved wife, Barabara; sisters, Lillie Mae Sampson and Mattie Thompson; brothers, Louis, Leonard, Freddie and Calvin Sampson; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Sampson and great granddaughter, Zuri Farrow.
