William F Talford

On May 4, 192x, William Fredrick Talford entered this life. He departed this life on November 18, 2014. He was the second of eight children born to the late Will Talford and the late Esther Poag Talford, of Charlotte, N.C. William grew up in Charlotte and graduated from the public schools there. He was always from a young age a hard worker, whether caring for his younger siblings or working after school and weekends doing various jobs in the community. He met and fell in love with his future wife, Ethel Mae Wilson in High School. They married in 1946, and moved to New York City. When expecting their first child, they relocated to Paterson, NJ, where their first child turned out to be identical twin sons; Ronald and Donald. William continued to be a hard worker doing whatever he needed to do to support his family. He retired after a long work career. He was a devoted and faithful member of the Second Baptist Church in Paterson, NJ, where he was a long time member of the Trustee Board. William received many honors for his faithful Church service. Upon relocating to Delaware, he worshipped at the Calvary Baptist Church. William and his wife Ethel relocated to Dover, DE. in 2014, at the request of his son Ronald who had previously relocated to Dover. William always jokingly referred to Dover as living in “the country." He was always a happy-go-lucky, giving, cheerful, friendly, out-going, fun loving man who genuinely loved the Lord,. He lived by Christian standards, which he taught to his sons. Everyone enjoyed being in his presence, as he always had a humorous story or joke to share, and he was always up on the latest news and could speak intelligently about many subjects. William, AKA Bill, is survived by his son Ronald (Jacquelyn) of Dover, grandson Christopher (Leslie) of Maryland, sister Lillie Means of Charlotte, N.C., sister Betty Fisher, of Raleigh, N.C., sister Mary Bellinger of Indiana, sister-in-law Bertha Dancy of Charlotte, N.C., great grandchildren Mariah and Noah Talford of Maryland, and, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is now resting in the loving arms of Jesus, and, although gone from his earthly life, awaiting the second coming, he will forever remain in our hearts and memories with a smile.
