Wilford Leonard

Wilford Leonard was born on June 22, 1952 in Whaleyville, Maryland to Eunice Everett Leonard and the late Wilford Leonard. He was the second of eight children. Wilford departed this life on Saturday, August 27, 2022. Wilford completed his education at Wicomico Senior High School, Salisbury, Maryland. As a child he was introduced to Christ and later became a member, of Mt. Calvary Holiness Church, Parsonsburg, Maryland, under the leadership of his brother, Pastor Matthew Leonard where he remained a member until his passing. He also fellowshipped with Tabernacle of Grace Full Gospel Church of Deliverance in Salisbury, Maryland. As a young man, Wilford had a love for horses. He raised his thoroughbreds, Misty and Blaze, and spent much of his time breaking wild horses for others. He was passionate about sports and played on the neighborhood basketball and football teams. He loved cars and turned many heads with his white, 1975 GTO convertible. In 1975, after a short courtship, Wilford married Gloria Ann Myers. From this union they were blessed with three children, Wilford, Jacqueline, and Tamera. Although their marriage ended in divorce, they remained close friends until her passing. Later, Wilford was blessed with a second son, Michael. He took pride in raising his children and found joy in being an awesome grandfather and great-grandfather. Wilford was considered a master metal scrapper and jack of all trades. He was very skilled and held various positions to include being a butcher, courier, and forklift operator. His most prided position was working alongside his daughter Tamera Myers-Dias, at The Myers Group, LLC. Wilford enjoyed spending quality time with his mother, who was his best friend and confidant. He loved reading and watching westerns and the original Star Trek. He was an avid Baltimore Ravens fan. Wilford was a very selfless and giving man and had a positive influence throughout the community. He ministered to everyone he encountered about the love of God often blessing and reminding them that "God is able". His favorite scripture was Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength,they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.” He is preceded in death by his father, Wilford Leonard, dear friend Gloria Ann Leonard, and granddaughter Sanaii Leonard. He leaves to cherish his memories, his Mother Eunice Leonard, 4 children, Wilford "Lorenzo" Leonard (Natausha), Jacqueline Myers,Tamera Myers-Dias, and Michael Myers (Erica); 6 grandchildren, RaJanea Myers, David McLaurin II, Eric Myers, Jahlil Myers and Gabriel Myers; 3 great-grandchildren, Lyric Vickers, Toni Vickers, Ayana Vickers; 6 sisters, Dixie Everett, Eunice Leonard, Renita Leonard, Irma Leonard, Doretha Finney, Donzella Finney and 1 brother, Pastor Matthew Leonard (Demetria), and a host of other family and friends.
