Wesley Freeman

Luke 23:43 And Jesus said to him “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” Early Tuesday morning, January 5, 2021, God dispatched his holy angel to summon his faithful servant, Wesley R. Freeman, Jr. to rest. Wesley R. Freeman, Jr., was born on Thursday, March 28, 1940, in Hallsboro, North Carolina, to Wesley R. Freeman and Deliah Moore Freeman. He was the sixth of eight children. Wes, as he was affectionately known, confessed his faith in Jesus Christ at an early age. He served at Mount Zion AME Zion Church. Wes moved to New York and later joined Faith Baptist Church, in Hempstead, New York. While living there, he met and married Roberta. Wes was a dedicated employee who worked for various companies and later retired from Nassau County Metropolitan Bus Company. Wesley and Roberta moved to Delaware, some thirty years ago, so that he would be nearer to his brother, Earnest. After moving to Delaware, he was a dedicated employee of Holden Dodge. Wes enjoyed all types of music. One of his favorite pastimes was making videos. He was truly a people person. The very first time that anyone met Wes, regardless of his or her age, the encounter was as if old friends were reuniting. No one was a stranger in Wes's presence. When he greeted someone new, no one would even believe that he was not seeing a dear friend. That was just his way and who he was. As everyone that knew our Wes would be quick to tell you, if you had a problem with Wes, you just had a problem. Wes was a loving husband, and he was the greatest father that anyone could ever want. He was the parent that every child wishes for. When we were younger, he was a parent. When we grew up, he was just not our father, he became our friend also. He was truly the best of the best. When we look back on all the years that we had together, our hearts are overwhelmed with the joy and love that he bestowed upon us, his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren. Wes was not just a precious gem, he was, and remains in all our hearts the most precious of gems. He was that multi-faceted gem like no other. Wes leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Roberta; five children; brothers, Charles, Roy (Daisy) and George (Lisa) of North Carolina, Earnest (Margie) of Delaware and sister Jackie, (Israel); sisters-in-law, Garzine and Dorothy of New York; brothers-in-law, James (Mary) of Delaware and Curtis of Florida; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
