Wendell Lee Miles

Wendell’s Journey Wendell Lee Miles was born on September 6, 1953 to the late Ogie F. Miles and Vida Lee Cottman Miles Jackson. He transitioned from this earthly life on Monday, March 25, 2024 at the age of seventy (70). He was affectionately known as “Rich”, “Richy Rich”, “Dad”, “Daddy”, “Pop-Pop”, “Big Bro”, “Brother”, and “Honey.” Wendell was educated in the Wicomico County Public Schools where he participated on the wrestling team. He also took Karate Lessons and earned a red, brown, and black belt. He loved music, gardening, fishing, crabbing, cooking, video recording, riding motorcycles, and was a classic car enthusiast. He held several jobs throughout his lifetime. Wendell worked for the Wicomico County Board of Education, Feldman Brothers, DHL, NAPA, Rice’s/APM Pest Control, K & L Microwave, Airborne Express and Mail Movers. He also served his country in the United States Navy. Wendell was raised in a Christian home and received Christian training early in his life. He was a member and baptized at St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church in Princess Anne Maryland under the leadership of the late Reverend Earvine Hargis. His memories will be cherished by: his loving and devoted wife, Lana; six children, Dana Miles Harrison (Hugo), Dawn Miles, Hermione Strand, Aaron Greene, Lonnie Polk and Timothy Miles; a stepdaughter, Lauren Roberts; twenty-one (21) grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a stepfather, Richard Jackson; five siblings, Ogie Miles (Priscilla), Eugene Miles (Sue), Herbert Miles, Sr. (Joy), Willis Cottman (Lena) and Vera L. Miles (aka Vicky); a godsister, Amanda Elsey White; a brother-in-law, Patrick Pinkett, Sr.; a sister-in-law, Mona Warren (Robert) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, co-workers and friends. In addition to his parents, Wendell was preceded in death by: his maternal grandparents, Willis and Annie Cottman; paternal grandparents, Otho, Sr. and Nettie Miles; parent-in-laws, Earl and Jean Birckhead; aunts, Ethel Hayward, Janice Miles, Lennie Cottman and Elsie Collins; uncles, Robert Lee Cottman, Willis Cottman, Jr., Preston Cottman, Alexander Cottman, Randolph Cottman, Sr., Samuel Cottman, Sr., Otho Miles, Jr., Carl Miles, Sr. and Calvin Miles.
