Walter Wilson

Walter Demont Wilson, departed this life on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Bayhealth Medical Center Kent General Hospital, in Dover, Delaware. He was born on Sunday, December 24, 1950, in Dover, Delaware, to Margaret Washington and the late Robert Watson. Walt received his education in the Capital School District. On May 31, 1986, he married the love of his life, Diane Carter. They were together for a total of 38 years. He had worked as an insulation installer for many years. Since his retirement, he enjoyed being a landscaper and a jack-of-all-trades, in his neighborhood and in the Dover community at-large. Walt enjoyed life. He loved people and especially enjoyed being surrounded by young people. He served as a mentor for his nieces and nephews. He helped his son and nephews with getting their first jobs. He had a strong work ethic and he strived to be a provider for his family. Walt loved his granddaughter, Alayah and would always tell her that she was Pop-Pop’s girl. Walter also bragged on being the best cook in town with his friends; fried potatoes and tuna fish and pancakes were his specialties. He was also a diehard Washington Redskins Fan. In addition to his father, Walter was predeceased by his brothers, Ethan and Keith Wilson. Walt leaves may wonderful memories to his loving wife, Diane Wilson; mother, Margaret Washington; mother-in -law, Mary N. Carter; children, Joseph Watson (Shannon), Walter Williams, Tahair Wilson, Angela Carter, Dinise Custis, Letitia Williams-Curtis (Samuel) and Gwendolyn Williams; 10 grandchildren, Brittany, Justin, Wayne, Marvin, Letitia “Teetee”, VerRona, Kadeem, Shantel, Walter and Alayah; two brothers, Stewart Wilson (Valerie) and Roger Wilson (Quintella); a special cousin, Valerie W. Wiltbank; special nephew, Christopher Harris, Sr.; two uncles, William Wilson (Iris), Paul Wilson (Idell); six brothers and sisters-in-law, Barbara Horton, Isaac Carter, Jr., Jackie Watkins, Deborah Wilson, Gary Carter (Sue) and Michael Carter; four close friends, Amin Hassan, Edward Moore “Styles”, Brent Harris and Tony Simpson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
