WALTER’S JOURNEY Walter Brittingham, Jr., a beloved son, father, nephew, cousin and friend, was born on March 30, 1953 to the late Clara Frances Fisher And Walter Brittingham, Sr. in the great town of Snow Hill, Maryland. God reached down and called him to his eternal home of rest on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Mallard Bay Nursing Facility in Cambridge, Maryland. Walter, (Teeny) as he was affectionately called, spent his early childhood with his parents, two brothers and older sister in Snow Hill, Maryland. He loved sports and attended the public school for his early education. In his late teens, he later relocated to Pocomoke City with his mother, siblings, and stepfather, Willard Fisher. He completed his education and received his diploma from Pocomoke High School in 1971. Walter was known for his good looks, nice clothes, and quiet demeanor. He was quite the ladies man in his early years. He loved to hang out with his brothers, Bobby and Donald. They were known to always be together. He had a strong bond with his mother Clara and was jokingly called “her favorite.” He looked up to his older sister Lily and at times she was the only one to “get him in line.” He affectionately called her “Big Sis.” Walter held down various jobs in the poultry industry and worked for the town of Pocomoke for several years until his health began to fail. He had one cherished son “Craig Tilghman” who he was so proud of and always talked about. Walter lived in Dover, Delaware for several years with his brother Bobby (wife Cheryl) and their children. Walter then spent most of the latter years of his life in Cambridge, Maryland, where he resided at several long term care facilities. He was known for his constant singing and laughter. He loved to sing 70’s hits, especially his favorite, “Hypnotize” by Linda Jones. He loved to read his Bible daily and always kept it at his bedside. Walter loved visits from “baby sis” or Sharney Cat” as he would say and his niece Jewel. He would always ask for snacks and Popeyes Chicken which was happily supplied. He always asked about and loved all his nieces and nephews. He remembered everyone's birthdays. He was loved by all who met him and his presence will be missed. Walter Brittingham (Teeny) leaves to cherish his memory: son, Craig Tilghman (Danette) of Salisbury, Maryland; three granddaughters, Jessica, Takyra and Makalya Tilghman; two great grand daughters, Miracle Fields, and Harmony Norman; two sisters, Lily Green of, Salisbury, Maryland and LaSharon Cousar (Tony) of Pocomoke, Maryland; one brother, Bobby Brittingham of Norristown, Pennsylvania; three nephews, Antione Drummond, Joseph Drummond and Bobby Brittingham, Jr.; five nieces, Nicole Collick, Christy Brittingham, Tylesia McNair, Michelle Green and Jewel McKelvin; maternal aunt, Dellaphine Johnson and paternal aunt, Sadie Fishier; four paternal uncles, Thomas, Howard, Norman (Wanda) and Danny (Emma) Fisher and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Clara, stepfather, Willard, two brothers, Donald Brittingham and Willard Fisher, Jr. and brother-in-law, Clarence Green.
