Vivian Althen Lucas (Parker)

Obituary Vivian A. Lucas, in the early morning hours of September 23, 2018, boarded a train bound for glory that made a stop in Salisbury, Maryland. She jumped on board, and her destination was heaven. As the train pulled away from the station, she said to the conductor – “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day. And not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” (II Timothy 4:7-8). Vivian was born on January 28, 1943 in Sharptown, Maryland, the only child born to the late Anna and Randall Parker. At an early age, Vivian accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. She enjoyed worshipping at Zion United Methodist Church in Sharptown, Maryland and Mount Nebo United Methodist Church in Delmar, Delaware with her family. Vivian was educated in the Wicomico County public school system, graduating from Salisbury High School in 1961. She furthered her education by attending Bowie State University and studying Business Administration. Vivian was a devoted employee of Howard University in Washington, DC for more than 15 years, where she worked as an accountant until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and in her spare time, she loved playing bingo, completing puzzle books, window shopping, watching sports and teasing her friends. Her favorite football team was the Washington Redskins. Vivian was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary. While we are deeply saddened by the loss of our cherished loved one and friend, we celebrate the life she lived and are grateful for the time God lent her to us. She will be greatly missed for the joy she added to everyone's lives.
