Virginia Tull

Virginia Tull daughter of the late Sue Moore Jones and Smith Jones, was born in Pungoteague, VA, on April 15,1916. She departed this life on October 4, 2012, after a brief illness. She was member of Mount Hope Baptist Church, Big Mill, Maryland. She received her education in Horntown Virginia public schools. She often talked about working in the fields as well as doing housekeeping jobs for various people. If there was anything that anybody needed to know about the “good old days”, all they had to do was ask Virginia Tull. She could tell you, as they say “a thing or two”. She had a very sharp mind and an amazing memory. She knew all of her family members phone numbers, at the age of 96. She loved to sing, and watch “The Price Is Right”, but her most favorite thing to do was talk on the answering machine. She would have about 5 messages in a row. She loved her brothers and sisters deeply and would often brag about their many talents, especially their singing abilities. Virginia was as strong willed as they come. Even when she didn’t feel her best she never complained. She never wanted anybody to do anything for her that she could do for herself. She would often talk about the times when she was Aaron’s babysitter. They had church at her house everyday. Aaron would say, “Grandma raise your hands up and let me pray for you.” He would then say, “In the name of Jesus come out.!” She would often say, “He gave me a kink in my neck, but I’m healed.” Her favorite songs were “Pass Me Not O’ Gentle Savior” and “I’ll Be Alright Someday”. We love her today, because she fought a good fight and kept the faith. Left to cherish her loving memories are: two daughters, Pastor Elnora Wise and Mary Francis Kellam, both of Pocomoke, MD; one son James Albert Tull of Pocomoke, MD; one daughter–in–law, Soredo Wise, ten grandchildren, fourteen great– great grandchildren, two brothers, Frances Lee Jones and Allen Jones (wife Margorite) both from Pocomoke, MD and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her life time companion, Preston Wise Sr., one son, Preston Wise Jr., four sisters: Queenie Wise (Willie), Lorenza White (John) Bessie White, and Elsie Mae Roberts (Arrow), four brothers, Clyde Jones, Freddie Jones (Beatrice), Wallace M. Jones (Patricia) and James Jones (Shirley) Hazel Tull, daughter-in-law, Margie Jones, sister-in-law, one son-in-law Herbert L. Kellam, one great grandson Shawn Wise, one great- great grand daughter Heaven Smith.
