Virginia Lee Kee

Mrs. Virginia Lee Kee (age 73), lovingly called “Ginny”, of Newark, New Jersey, transitioned on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, 1:57 p.m., at Clara Maas Hospital, Belleville, New Jersey. She entered this world on September 12, 1944, the 5th of 12 children born to Harry Washington Henry, Sr. and Carrie Edward (Purnell) Henry of Berlin, Maryland. It was in Berlin, that she met and wed her husband of 55 years, Clifford Kee of Newark, Maryland, while attending Worcester High School. Thank you Cousin Gerald Purnell, for introducing our father to our beautiful mother. It was divine intervention. Mrs. Kee earned an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education at Essex County College of New Jersey, and retired from Community Day Nursery, East Orange, New Jersey, in 2009, after 26 years of employment. Virginia’s parents, Harry W. Henry, Sr. and Carrie Purnell Henry, and brothers Charles Henry, Rev. Joseph A. Henry, Sr., Robert Henry, and Earl Henry preceded her in transition. To Ginny, family was everything. She leaves a legacy within her five children, Miles Andre Henry (Tammy Henry) of Newark, NJ, Deanna Hall (Angelo Hall) of Yardville, NJ, Evangelist Thomisena Kee-Green of Bath, PA, Yulonda Kee, and Tysha Kee-Pagan (Raymond Pagan) of Newark, NJ. She had a special bond with the youngest two of her children who affectionately called her, GinGin. They remained at her side until the very day the Lord escorted her home. Ginny unashamedly doted on her eight grandchildren, of whom she was so very proud: Clifford Awan Kee, Ciara Nicole Hall, Latoya Chee-Chee Travis, Michael Lee Travis, Shekinah-Glory Kee-Green, Marcus Elijah Hall, Justin Emmanuel Hall, and Gracious Kee Green. She was highly favored with three lovely great-grandchildren—Divinity Yasmine Allen, Kimora Brielle Cherubim, and Love-Lee Autumn Allen. She leaves to rejoice, four sisters, Sarah L. Copes, Julia Henry, Evelyn Henry-Johnson (Jessie) , and Pastor Linda Hobbs( Theo) ; three brothers, Harry W. Henry, Jr. (Lucille) , Dale Henry (Dellophine), and Clifton Henry (Betty) , and, one special cousin/sister, Elder Sylvia Drummond of Dover, NJ. Ginny sincerely cherished all of her nieces and nephews, but the family would like to extend special distinction to her Suzy Q, (Cordelia Harmon). Thank you, Suzie for looking out for “Momma-Cakes” during those times when it proved too difficult for us to get down the highway soon enough.
