Violet Dashiell

Reflection of Life I’m going where the wicked shall cease from troubling. The weary shall be at rest. All the saints of the angels shall sit at His feet and be blessed. Violet R. Gale Dashiell departed this life May 15, 2019 at Anchorage Nursing Facility. She was born on November 29, 1931 in Quantico, Maryland to the late Sadie M. Gale and Everette Furr. She was raised by the late Reverend and Mrs. Alonzo McBride. She attended school in Talbot County and graduated form Salisbury Colored High School in 1948. On January 1, 1951, Violet was united in holy matrimony to the late Herbert H. Dashiell. To this union, six children were added. She was a lifelong member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Inc. Quantico, Maryland where she served on the senior choir, usher board, secretary of the trustees and administrative council and a member of the United Methodist women. Violet retired from Campbell Soup Company after twenty-nine (29) years of service. After retiring, she fulfilled her life time dream of traveling. She was a faithful Baltimore Orioles fan. She tried to be a mother and friend to everyone she met. Her life’s motto was, “Give your flowers while you can see and smell them.” Violet leaves to mourn her departure: two daughters, Cheryl Williams and Sandra Dashiell, both of Salisbury, Maryland; her son, Herbert (Hilda) Dashiell of Concord, Delaware; three grandchildren, Jonah (January) Williams of Delmar, Maryland, Taeka (Mark) Murphy of Middle River, Maryland and Chiara Williams of Salisbury, Maryland; 9 great grandchildren, Nicole Johnson, Tavon Leggett, KiAundra Williams-Valverde, Eboni Williams, D`Andre` Morgan-Williams, Nyshea Williams, Gerald and Jairus Pitt and Micah Williams; five great-great grandchildren, Tyrese Leggett, Kaiden Johnson, Tamareon Leggett and, Karter and Kaylee Johnson; her sister, Gwendolyn Thomas; special friends, Brenda (LaVaughn) Price, Rosetta Dennis, Rosa Purnell, Hope (Thomas) Price, Jean (Philmore) White, Joan Mitchell, Jerome (Ruth Anne) Jenkins, Caroline (Sidney) Johnson and Clifton Lawrence, Sr.; four adopted children, Darlene (Handy) Cornish, RenáAustin, Kimberly (Lemonte) Robinson and Elise (Douglass) Deshields; favorite nieces, Greta Meadows and Jennifer (Darryl) Russell; a great –great niece Madison Schoolfield and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Dashiell, parents, Everett Furr and Sadie Gale, adoptive parents, Reverend and Mrs. Alonzo McBride; two sons, Michael Gale and Vernon Dashiell, two daughters, Vanissa and Melinda Dashiell and a great-great grandson, Tavon Leggett, Jr. Sunset and evening star and one clear call for me. May there be no mourning at the bar when I put out to the sea. Sadly Missed ~ The Family
