Vincent E. Jackson

Vincent Everett Jackson was the loving son of Irene Nickens Jackson Roberts and John Roberts he was born July 15, 1948 in Washington D.C. He attended Paul Junior High school in and Graduated from Calvin Coolidge in Northwest High School. He was a Washingtonian through and through. He loved playing on the city streets with his three brothers Peter, Ernest and Nathan and his many cousins and friends. At home he was a good son and loving big brother to his sister Doree. After completing high school Vincent chose to pursue a career in the federal government initially with the department of Agriculture and later with the Department of State where he served for over twenty years as a principal driver. During his 37 year tenure with the federal government Vincent received many awards and accolades for his excellent and dedicated service. In 1984 Vincent married the love of his life, Helen and became stepfather to her son Damon. Together they had three wonderful children his sweet daughter Janelle and a set of Mama and Papa twins Candice and Cordell. He was always so proud of his children and loved them fiercely. He was also blessed to have an Uncle Eugene Nickens, mother-in-law Dora Curtis, sister-in-law and brother–in-law Lynda and Roosevelt McAllister, a sister–in-law Joan Jackson, daughter-in law Sharon, grandson Darius, two step-granddaughters Kazia and Chanel and his precious twin grand-daughters Kendra and Kiara and a host of other cousins, nieces and nephews and dear friends. Vincent was a man of many talents. He loved working with his hands and could fix almost anything. All of his friends and family called on him if something was in need of repair. He was a soft spoken man who often had difficulty putting his thoughts into words but everyone knew when he spoke he said what he meant and meant what he said. He was a man of honor and integrity and a loyal friend. Those who knew him well loved him for all of those reasons. In recent months he was ill and in a lot of pain and discomfort but through it all he never complained. He left us as quietly as he lived on Friday October 24, 2014. Although we are grateful that he is no longer suffering we are saddened by his absence among us. He will be truly missed. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Vincent E.
