Veronica Noami Gaillard

OBITUARY Verona Naomi Gaillard was born on February 2, 1930 in Panama. She died on April 23, 2019 at Manor Care of Washington Township in New Jersey. Verona grew up in Panama as one of 14 siblings. She lived in New York as a young adult. Verona was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on November 26, 1955. Later she married Walter Gaillard in New York. They settled in Salisbury, Maryland where they had one cherished son, David, and served Jehovah together for over 50 years. Verona and Walter aided many persons to dedication and baptism. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Verona loved her family and friends very much. She spent as much time as she could with her grandsons Jamaar and Jermaine while they were growing up. If time allowed, no doubt she would do the same for her great grandchildren, Jada, Jordyn and Jameer. Some of the things Verona enjoyed were cooking, baking, and sewing. She was a gracious hostess and liked having friends over to enjoy their company and her good cooking. Verona was a gifted seamstress and made lots of wedding gowns and bride’s maids dresses over the years. Even more than that, she made many wedding cakes and cakes for other special occasions. As many of us know, they were not only beautiful but very tasty too. Verona loved good music and dancing. She and Walter enjoyed many live shows when they lived in New York and a few after they moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland. As many of her family and friends know, if there was good music, she would be among the last still dancing. Because she was fluent in her native language of Spanish and English, she enjoyed music from several cultures. Caring for her yard and the flowers in it was something Verona looked forward to each year for as long as she was able to do it. Verona was thrifty and made wise use of all resources. She made nearly all her own clothes and some for other people. Many of us wondered how she did all that she did for God and neighbor. As a loyal servant of Jehovah, she leaves us all with fond memories and her bible-based hope at Rev. 21:4 that we will see her again in Paradise. We will all miss Verona and the fine example she set in faith, love, endurance and hospitality, along with her son David Gaillard, two grandsons Jamar (Danielle) Gaillard and Jermaine (Kristina) Gaillard, two great granddaughters, Jada and Jordyn Gaillard, one great grandson, Jameer Gaillard, a niece Mercedes O’Connors, dear and longtime friends Millie Gaillard and Martha Dashiell, and many, many other friends.
