Travis Antonio West

Travis Antonio West, departed this life on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, Delaware, after battling cancer since March of 2008. Travis was born on Saturday, September 9, 1967 to Mary Lou West and Truman Bruce Mason. What great joy he brought to the West and Mason families: a bouncing baby boy with the largest dimples you could see for miles. He was reared by both Mary Lou West and the late Margo Mason (Louis) Hitchens. Tony, affectionately known as "Hulk", received his early education in the Laurel School District, graduating from Laurel High School in 1986. During his years at Laurel High School, Tony was involved in extracurricular activities. He was a outstanding athlete for the Bulldogs and exceled in sports. He was captain of the football team; he was voted "Most School Spirited, was a member of the Varsity L, Future Homemakers of America and Jobs for Delaware Graduates. Tony was best known for his wrestling ability. He was "State Champion" in wrestling for two consecutive years, with unbeaten Henlopen Conference records. He held several jobs and his own landscaping/concrete business. He was employed by David G. Horsey of Laurel, Delaware until he experienced failing health. On August 26, 1995, he was united in holy matrimony to Pamela M. Heyward at United Deliverance Bible Center in Laurel, Delaware to this union four children were born. Tony loved to ride his bike and was a member of the Thunderguards Motorcycle Club. He loved to bar-b-que and loved being around children. At the young age of 18 he even chaperoned his nephew Montez on a class trip to Washington, DC. Tony also had a love for the game of Chess ("Checkmate, Pa"). We rejoice in sharing Tony's statement that "The BEST feeling he ever had was when he received Christ as his Personal Savior". He was preceded in death by two sisters, Toyia Sturgis and Garvenia Hyland and one brother, John Waples. Tony is survived by his devoted wife, Pamela; three sons; Travis Antonio (Sadie Pusey) West II, Tyler Assante' West and Tanner Armand West, all of Seaford; two daughters, Alaysia Sabree Carr of Easton, Maryland and Teaghan Aayne' West of Seaford, Delaware and one grand daughter, Avery Marie West of Seaford, Delaware. Tony leaves to mourn his loss his mother, Mary Lou West of Laurel, Delaware, his father, Truman B. (Tanya) Mason of Georgetown, Delaware; seven brothers, Carl (Margaret) West of Seaford, Delaware, Levi (Mandy) West of Durham, North Carolina and Janzen (Sadie) Burton of Laurel, Delaware, Truman (Justine) Mason II of Longneck, Delaware, Michael Waples, Lepege Waples and Louis Hitchens (Tina) all of Laurel, DE; three sisters, Gwendolyn (Sylvester) West of Laurel, Delaware; Dedra West and Terri Mumford of Seaford, Delaware a maternal grandmother, Irene Horsey, Laurel, Delaware; his mother-in-law, Thelma Heyward of Laurel, Delaware and his father-in-law, Clayton Heyward of Seaford, Delaware; three sisters-in-law, Roslyn Heyward of Felton, Delaware, Thonia (Oliver) Waters of Hebron, Maryland and Tamela Heyward of Columbia, South Carolina; two brothers-in-laws, Clay Heyward of Stone Mountain, Georgia and Dwayne Heyward of Georgetown, Delaware and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
