Tora Stanley

Sunday, May 1, 1959, at Beebe Hospital in Lewes, DE, George A. Sr. and Lula Mae Isler welcomed their third daughter and seventh of ten children, Tora Arnetta. She was named in honor of her paternal great aunt, Tora Boomer Wiggins. Subsequently, she often reminded her siblings that “she” was the “first” one to be born in a hospital. On Saturday morning, December 6, 2014, she peacefully transitioned from her earthly home to eternal life in her heavenly home. Preceding her in passing were her father, George Alfred Isler Sr.; her sister and brother-in-law, Julia B. and Kelvin E. Felton Tora received her primary and secondary education within the Indian River School District graduating in June 1977 from Sussex Central High School in Georgetown, Delaware. On May 29, 1999, she married the love of her life, Edgar Ray Stanley, who absolutely loved her and affectionately called her his “Princess”. Together they raised their son, Aaron, whom she lovingly called “my baby” and “The Bishop”. When Aaron married Stephanie, she got the daughter that she always wanted. Her varied vocational experiences included: CNA at the Harrison House and the Stockley Center; a number of years at Paramount Poultry, Cargill, and Allen Foods in Harbeson, DE; and the Best Western Motel in Seaford, DE. However, without a doubt, her most recent occupation was the most joyous and fulfilling, being caregiver and babysitter to her grandnieces and nephews. As a child, Tora’s Christian walk began at Mt Zion Church, Georgetown, DE. During the 1980’s, she was a member of Pilgrims Ministry of Deliverance, Georgetown, DE. In 2012 she and Edgar returned to Mt. Zion. She thoroughly enjoyed attending her home church and could often be seen praising God whenever she had the chance. Many, who were blessed to know her, often commented “you are always smiling”. Tora and Edgar were great examples of following Matthew 25:35**. While living in Seaford and continuing after their move to Bridgeville, they thought nothing of preparing and delivering countless meals to the homeless and less fortunate in the Seaford area. She leaves to cherish a lifetime of wonderful memories, husband, Edgar Ray Stanley; son and daughter-in-law, Aaron D. and Stephanie D. Isler; mother, Lula Mae Richardson Isler; two sisters, Christine and Edward Williamson and Malisa J. Isler; six brothers, George A. Isler, Jr., James E. Sr. and Wanda Isler, Larry V. and Dora Isler, Manuel V. Isler, Ronald L. and Estell Isler, Donald L. and Sabrina Isler; 16 nieces and nephews including one special niece, Kelve’ Felton Long, daughter of her sister, Julia; her very special grandniece and grandnephew, Charlie and Christian Long, and 19 other grandnieces and nephews; one great grandniece and three great-grand nephews; maternal uncle, Mexico Stephens, Jr. and wife Elizabeth; paternal uncle, Josiah C. Isler Sr. and wife Brenda; paternal aunt, Cordelia Isler Hopkins; maternal aunts, Louise Gunther, and Thelma Towns; mother-in-law, Catherine Stanley Johnson; six brothers-in-law, William and Helena Wise, Charles and Sandra Wise, James and Willie Ann Stanley, Robert and Brazelda Johnson, Clifton and Emily Johnson, Anthony and Devnita Johnson; four sisters-in-law, Charlotte Johnson, Louise Wise, Shirley Sampson, Gloria Robinson and husband Terry; numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.
