Timothy M. DeShields

Timothy Martin DeShields was born on May 29, 1955 to the late Elizabeth Mary DeShields and Robert Tingle. Timmie, as he was called, had the privilege to go home to his Heavenly Father on Father’s Day, June 15, 2014. What a wonderful gift! Timothy met the love of his life, Jennifer Lee DeShields as a teenager and they were married on January 31, 1974. From that union, two beautiful daughters were born, Kimberly Love and Kelly Lynn. He was a very loving, supportive and protective husband, father and grandfather. His family came first. He loved nothing more than spending time talking and laughing with them. He received his education in the Seaford, Delaware School System where he excelled in his studies. He was a gifted tri-athlete. Tim was a top notch athlete who played basketball, softball and was the first African –American quarterback for Seaford High School. He was a role model to his fellow athletes and a great example to men in general. Tim was employed at DuPont in Seaford, Delaware, Fayette County School District in Fayette, Georgia and at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware. In his early thirties, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and he loved to study the Scriptures, he has many Bibles to prove it. He was always eager to share the Word of God. Tim had the anointing to teach the Scriptures and was called one of the most anointed teachers on the East Coast by the late Apostle, James. F. Greene. He was preceded in death by one sister, Phyllis Batson; one brother-in-law, Layafette Brown and father-in-law, Abraham Brown. He leaves to mourn his wife of 40 years, Jennifer Lee Brown DeShields; two daughters, Kimberly Love and Kelly Lynn DeShields; four grandchildren, Kimani DeShields-Williams, Eryn Lynae’ DeShields, Evin Timothy Elijah DeShields and Kendyl Love Taylor; five godchildren, Tishanna Toppin (Shakhan), Tiffany Warrington, McCoy Curtis( Sheila) and Wayne and Katie Griffin; seven sisters, Elaine Carrington, Debbie DeShields, Reba West (Chuck), Leola Tingle, Barbara Jones and Reverend Rebecca Batson and Pandora Cannon; four brothers, Alfred Batson, William Batson, Robert Batson, Harold Batson; six brothers-in-law, Gregory Brown, Jerry Brown, Brad (Cheryl) Brown, Michael (Brenda) Brown, Ronald Moore and Dana (Jennifer) Brown; four sisters-in-law, Anna (George) Warrington, Vanessa Palmer, Spring Brown and Tammy Brown, and his mother-in-law, Pearl Moore; three special daughters, Dana Brittingham, Tawanna Lewis and Teresa Chavis and a host of loving aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
