Thomas Savage

Thomas Savage peacefully passed when he heard the call of the Almighty God to come home, On November 22, 2016 at the age (91). Thomas was the son of the late Oscar and Susie Savage born January 17, 1925 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Thomas was the oldest of seven children. Thomas received some formal education while living in Philadelphia, but soon after moving to Maryland his education didn’t take priority over working in the fields and factory to help support his family. Thomas, a young man and restless and wanting to explore, moved back to Philadelphia. He was employed with the Philadelphia Coke Company for many Years. It was in Philadelphia that he met the love of his life, Edna. Thomas and Edna married and that union lasted forty years until her death in September on 1990. the raised four sons and one daughter. One son preceded them both in death. As various events occurred in Thomas’s life after the passing of his wife, her decided with the help of his son John “Johnny Boy”, to relocate. This journey took Thomas to Baltimore, Maryland where he resided with his son. While living in Baltimore Thomas joined Immanuel Temple Church. The next journey took him further south to Tyaskin, Maryland where he settled in with his sister Loneda Farrington until his departure. Thomas was a kind and caring man. He had a great sense of humor with his witty sayings and that infectious smile. Family life was extremely importance to him. Thomas attempted to raised his sons to be strong, upright and independent men. A spoiled daughter…. Daddy’s little girl, her protector. Thomas was a man of character. He had a swagger like no other. Clean cut, sharp dressed, Florsheim and Stacey Adams Shoes (don’t step on the shoes), brim hat and Cadillac. Thomas enjoyed the entertainment of boxing matches and going fish8ing in Crisfield, Maryland and Massachusetts. He loved to cook, and had a strong palate for sweets and especially for baked tomatoes. As a child, Thomas parents raised him in the church and throughout his adulthood he maintained a Christian lifestyle. During his residency in Philadelphia Thomas was a member of Holy Cross Baptism Church. Upon his return to Maryland, Thomas joined the Salisbury Evangelistic Church of Deliverance, the same church that his beloved mother Susie Savage attended. He took great pride in going praise to the Almighty God for all his many blessing that had been bestowed upon him. Thomas loved listening to gospel Music while cooking and doing house chores. It was during this faze of his life, another change occurred. He me another wonderful woman, Dorothy Dredden who captured his heart. She became his friend, his confidante, his motivation his inspiration, his companion in life. Thomas is leaving a legacy of love to : his companion, Dorothy Dreddren, his children, Barbara Wylie, John Lomax, James Lomax; sisters Loneda Farrington, and Mary Savage-Anderson (Gary); his brother/ friend Andre’ Tull, 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, Church family and a host of aunts uncle , nieces, nephews cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by four Siblings, Oscar, Jr., Lena, Elizabeth and Willie Mae.
