Teresa A. Bailey (Wright)

Teresa Ann Bailey, departed this life on Sunday, October 25, 2020, at Bayhealth Hospital-Sussex Campus, in Milford, Delaware, after a short battle with cancer. She was born on Wednesday, March 2, 1955, to the late Robert Wright and Alphonsa (Cannon) Wright, in Seaford, Delaware. Teresa received her early education at Phyllis Wheatley Elementary School, in Bridgeville, Delaware, and graduated from Seaford Senior High School in 1973. For her post-secondary education, she attended Delaware State College (now Delaware State University), where she majored in Early Childhood Education. Teresa's first job was at HP Cannon in Bridgeville, Delaware. From there, she worked as a domestic engineer at Greenwood Motel. She went on to work for Vlasic Foods Incorporated in Millsboro, Delaware, where she worked for more than 30 years until the company's closing in 2012. Teresa was a devoted lifetime member of William's Chapel Church, in Bridgeville, Delaware. At the young age of 11, she sang with the Sunbeam Youth Choir and began serving as an usher. Later, she became the President of the Usher Board and served in the position for over 50 years. Teresa loved children and was also a Primary Sunday School Teacher for several years. She was always available whenever anyone needed assistance. Whether it be church outings, holiday programs, or social gatherings, you could guarantee that Teresa would be present, and things would be decent and in order. In 1994, she met Elmer Bailey. The two joined in matrimony on March 9, 1996. Elmer and Teresa loved to travel, dine at seafood restaurants, attend social gatherings and spend time with family and friends. With her husband by her side, Teresa would plan group trips with their friends to numerous places including, the Poconos, Strawberry Landing, and Virginia Beach, just to name a few. She loved shopping and cooking for others. Everyone loved her macaroni and cheese, watergate salad and sweet potato pies. Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Alphonsa Wright; her baby sister, Brenda Lee Wright-Knapp; father-in-law, Howard “Pete” Bailey, Sr.; brothers-in-law, Anthony Bailey and Alfred “Joe” Bailey; and nephew, Albert “BJ” Bailey, Jr. Teresa is survived by her husband of 24 years and caregiver, Elmer Bailey of Bridgeville, Delaware; one step-daughter, Twinez Thompson, of Dover, Delaware; one granddaughter, Azyah Martin; sister, Barbara Wright-Johnson; adopted sister, Sarah Smith; mother-in-law, Cora Bailey; brothers-in-law, Howard “Petey” Bailey, Jr. (Sandra), Albert “Bunkey" Bailey, Sr. (Patsy), Howard "Little Petey" Neal (Coretta), and Edward "Eddie" Neal (Lisa); sisters-in-law, Felicia Bailey, Sherry Banks, Mary Bailey and Dela Bailey; two nieces, Tyranda Wright and Keyshonna Knapp; two great-nieces, Sirionna and Sanaa Wright; great-great niece, Sa’Monyai Wright; godson, Emmanuel "Manny" Neal (Tenille); godsisters, Rosalind Wood, Talisha Ayres (Andrew) and Elizabeth Mullen; her best friend, Linda Mackenzie; special friends, Tony Paige and Sondra Cannon; and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins, family and friends.
